Depend on how harsh the abuse is I guess but I more than likely wouldn't leave, my father got sick w hen I was a child and had mutltiple stroke and heart disease well he was quite abusive sometimes (like yelling, insulting or even hitting us in very bad case) we never left him becuase we all loved him very much. Looking back I wouldn't have done anything different so I'm pretty sure if it was my partner I would act the same and stay except if it actually become dangerous and threatening to my life (cause I don't wanna die).

Also I'm a Catholic so we can support anything, my only deakbreaker is cheating anything else is manageable.

I can’t tolerate the abusive part. I feel obligated to help as much as is possible but there is no help for someone who can’t or won’t seek help for themselves

Yes, and it isn't theoretical for me, it's experience. A distinct love shared with someone isn't bulletproof but luckily, there's always the prospect of love, somewhere, dormant.

If we couldn't get them help or they refused help, I don't see where there would be much more of a choice you would have other than leave them.

Yes I would just as if my partner became physically disabled and abusive. The abusive part being the common factor here.

They wouldn't want me to suffer if their mind went in that way. Same goes for me. If I went nuts get rid of me I don't know. I love my wife too much to burden her with something out of her control and vice versa.
