When you block someone, do you block across all platforms or only one?

A friend and I were having a discussion. I don’t block people unless they’re harassing or annoying me. If I do and it’s that drastic I will block across the board but usually I only block on the platform the person kept contacting me on (usually iPhone). She always blocks across the board.

I’ll use my most recent ex as an example. He blocked me on facebook but not instagram as I was still getting updates from him until I unfollowed him (we don’t follow each other though). I don’t know if he has me blocked on the phone as I haven’t tried calling or texting him lately.

I’m not trying to be a troll nor am I stalking my ex (I just used him as an example and stating what I observed from him). Obviously no answer is right or wrong. I’m genuinely curious what other people’s thoughts are.

I don’t block period.

I’m like you. I only block in certain instances where I’m being harassed or threatened.

I’m like your friend. When I block, I block across all platforms and that person is staying blocked.

Before anyone accuses me of stalking/harassing the ex, I didn’t and tha not the reason for the block. He blocked me because right after the breakup I sent him a nasty DM on facebook calling him out on his treatment towards me during the breakup and told him what he needs to work on with the next girlfriend.

Before I block someone I will be direct and tell them to leave me alone. After that I will block you on anything you attempt to contact me on and WILL keep records in case legal action (criminal or civil) needs to be taken.

If they keep trying to find ways to contact me. Even going so far as to be so desperate to blow me up on LinkedIn. I’ll block you on every social media platform I have, your emails will be sent to my spam, your calls & texts will be blocked as well as reported, your letters you send will be stamped “return to sender”, and every other means you attempt to contact me after I expressed directly for you not to will be documented.

I don't use dating apps or social media, so I only have one place to block someone. That said, it's incredibly rare that I block anyone who isn't a telemarketer. It's usually not necessary. I vet the woman I date pretty thoroughly, and if they get disqualified, they know exactly why, because I tell them. There's no mystery..

I'll block on the problem platform but often ill want to leave an avenue for them to apologise or make amends if the blocking was a message. So a guy can go back to tinder if we met there or face book or whatever. It shows me they care enough to want me back.

I don't have random strangers across my platforms so if someone is threatening or weird it's only on one and they will be blocked and unlikely we were ever friends enough for them to find me anywhere else.

I never needed to. I change my mobile number every 2 years. So only actual contacts stay in contact with me. I dont need to block anyone. People that dont have to tell me anything and I dont have to tell them anything will leave my life without big trouble. I dont have this kind of stress with people that I would need to block them. I am more peacefully and dont like to argue.

I rarely block. When I do, it's platform-specific because they have seriously violated a platform rule.

As far as G@G is concerned, I've only ever blocked the Satanic tools that are the AI bots.

Other than that, I've only ever blocked an ex... pseudo-girlfriend... fling, whatever on Facebook. Some girl who caused me a lot of trouble many years ago.

I've answered this before, but I don't block anyone. Time goes on and people change. Someday you may cross paths again and move forward. But if you block them that door is closed.

I usually just take a pause and stop responding. Let time do it's job.

I just block people from texting my phone number. On social media I set my Instagram account to private. I don't think anybody can message me without me accepting a request or something first. I'm rarely on there.

For me blocking is always the last option. However, yes when I do block then I block them from everywhere. No exceptions and that person is out of my life forever.

I am only on two platforms, g@g and YouTube for music discussions, and those two are worlds apart. I have block 100s of people on here. Never had a problem with anyone on YouTube.

Guessing its site wide. GAG should examine and revise blocking policy. Blocking prevents others from seeing your questions and opinions they may like.
