My boyfriend served in the last year of Afghanistan and he can't be around fireworks. How do I help?

I'm not sure when he was there or how long. All ik is when they evacuated Afghanistan. He told me the stories. I've watched some news of people clinging to the planes because they didn't want to stay.

It's fireworks' reason and he is being set off again. He says he has done therapy and has certain ways to help but I don't know if I can help more. He says the fireworks remind him of artillery. Please help.

Because of Halloween? 🎃 I don't think there are many fireworks on Halloween. At least I have never noticed any.
4th of July is different story. In our city it's against the law to light off fireworks 🎆 but everyone does it anyway. I guess we can't get away from them.
The only thing I can suggest is maybe getting a few anti-anxiety pills from his doctor to help with it.
They should help keep him calm.
Not to compare animals with people but some people's animals freak out every 4th of July and they get medicine to keep them calm.

These traumas are really hard to overcome and need to be respected. I've experienced missile explosions really close to me and the noise scared me so much I easily get startled with loud noises now and freak out. My advice to you is do not insist with him if he's not ready, accept that he may never be ready.

My man has the same issue and related ones. Sometimes, it's just best to say fuck it and pop a benadryl and go to bed early if at all possible. If not, good noise canceling headphones and a movie or game is a good distraction.
