Is it the man's job to make his women submit or is it the woman's job to just be submissive?

I got into an argument with someone recently who claims that if you don't MAKE a woman submit, she can't respect you. Fair enough. My counter argument was that, if I have to MAKE her submit, then she's not submissive by nature and therefore a waste of energy. Thoughts?

It's a man's job to pick a wife that will submit to him, and a wife's job to submit to her husband. I suppose if it is really negatively affecting the family then the man needs to man up and lay down the law, however if you really needs to do that then he's already failed himself and his kids.

I suppose it's different for every situation. I think sometimes Manning up and sitting expectations or boundaries are absolutely necessary, but as you said sometimes a softer approach works better. Kind of just depends on the woman and what exactly her problem is.
