Yes, I believe she can, both men and womens love for one another in the relationship can change, their love van die out, but the love for their children is another relationship, another love. It is important, of cource, they don't project what they are feeling for the dad on to their child. That can happen, but then the fault is something mentally and will hopefully be worked on and go away.

My mom is the opposite. She loves my dad and is a good wife but a bad mom because she ignored my father's abuse and his family's abuse. She told me I may be her son ( only first born) but hers her husband and he will always come before me. Even though he punched me and breaks my bones and generally wishes I was never born.

There's a saying somewhere than children usually become the priority of the mother not the father, in fact if the husband is troubled she will do what she can raise her kids safely and check up on them.
