In my home, we agreed that my wife will do all the cooking and cleaning in the kitchen, because she enjoys cooking and she cooks in the Chinese style that she likes. I also like cooking but it is more important to her than it is to me so I allow her to claim that portion of the household responsibilities.

I do the weekly laundry, changing bed linen and towels, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, and cleaning bathrooms. (We pay for lawn maintenance.) The time I spend on weekly chores in roughly 3-5 hours, and that is fairly equivalent to the time she spends on cooking and cleaning the kitchen.

Do whatever works for you. My wife doesn't work and doesn't want me to do any cleaning because she says I'm terrible at it. She washes the dishes that I've already washed. It would be different if I was intentionally bad at it to avoid washing but I genuinely try to do a good job so its kinda offensive. The only reason I cook meals is because we come from different cultures and like different foods but she likes her own food. It works for us but probably not for most.
