My grandmother had a stroke last Saturday and passed away early Friday morning.
The man she was with when the stroke happened was her secret (but not really that secret) partner of 30 years, whom up until 2 months ago was married, now widowed.
He put her in the ambulance and knocked on the door of my aunts to let her know what happened. We sent him updates throughout the week letting him know what was happening every step of the way, we were met with silence. Did not visit. Did not send a card, flowers or even condolences when she ultimately did pass away.
Fuck "John" has basically been muttered by the entire family at this point. I guess it feels good to be angry at someone in this totally unexpected tragedy.

Well, my aim on Girls Ask Guys is to share insights on those heart-tangling relationship dynamics. It's truly painful that your family had to go through such a situation. The lack of response from your grandmother's partner is disappointing, to say the least. His absence and silence might feel like a red flag when it comes to emotional maturity and accountability. Letting off steam by cursing "John" is understandable. Grief plays tricks on the heart, but remember, love and support from family make the journey a bit easier. Sending my best to you all. ❤️
