I started dating this guy who said he was a single dad but I discovered that he is married. I found out about it when he was on a “work trip”. (aka going on vacation with his wife.) He had claimed that he didn’t have any social media, but his profile popped up as a friend suggestion on fb and lo and behold his profile picture was of him and his wife. He had pictures of their wedding, pictures of their kids, and pictures of their date nights on his profile. His date night’s occurred on days that he was telling me that he was working late. When he got back from vacation, he found that I had blocked him on all social media and my phone. He used another number to contact me. I have to pick up all calls that come through on my phone due to work, so I picked it up and found that it was him. I confronted him with what I found and he said that he and his wife are separated, but stayed together because her family doesn’t believe in divorce. I asked him why he did not tell me this at the beginning, and why he didn’t tell me about his vacation.
I acknowledged that had I known the truth, I probably wouldn’t have pursued a relationship with him just because the situation seemed too messy. I am not the kind of woman that wants to be with a man who is married in any capacity no matter the situation. Instead of taking responsibility for not being honest and for hurting me, he blamed me for not being understanding and for blocking him. He said basically made it seem like I was overreacting and being immature for not coming to him with this. He kept blaming me for blocking him. The reason that I did block him was because I did not want a confrontation. I was not going to get his wife involved and I was not going to contact him anymore, I felt this was best for my well-being to just let things go. I said that I didn’t want to see him anymore because he wasn’t honest and he said that he didn’t want to see me anymore because I was being dramatic. Was I in the wrong or was he?
