My comment my not be on target but my experience with monotone people goes like this. During my employment as a med school faculty, I was charged with instructing residents in pathology. I dealt with many nationalities. I dealt with one resident whose mother and father had no time for him and he was raised by his grandparents. You can guess , he had no social life. During his residency he had to make a number of presentations to the faculty. They were all sleepers. Faculty were falling asleep during his presentations which was aided by the fact that lunch preceded the presentation. On the social side he had many problems. All of us wanted to help but his monotone voice was a not easily overcome.
