Can you be too nice to others while in a relationship, and is jealousy fair?

For example, a boyfriend that is super friendly to other women and does things for them beyond the normal amount, or a girlfriend that doesn’t ignore men that are interested in her because she doesn’t want to be mean. Is there a point to where someone in a relationship can be too nice or friendly with others? And how does this affect the other partner? Do they have to right to feel uncomfortable or should they like that their partner is so nice?

I find this interesting because niceness is seen as a positive but it may leave the other partner feeling like they aren’t special or that they have competition. I’ve recently been thinking that good intentions cannot make everyone happy, and in some ways, may be done in self interest (but that’s another issue lol). A real life example I heard from my best friend — her boyfriend gave his sweater to another girl because she was cold. She found out by seeing a picture online of that girl in his sweater. It’s a nice thing to do, but it made my friend feel jealous and sad.

I just wanna hear what other people think.
