In Titanic, Jack and Rose only knew each other for a few days…
…but their connection felt deep, passionate, and life-changing.
It made me think…
in real life, when something feels that intense that quickly…
is it actually love? Or just chemistry amplified by the moment?
What are your thoughts?
This is a tricky question for a couple reasons
First is because it's who you are and have become in life and your beliefs
And second because of the feeling that comes with that moment and that person
I believe one day you will feel that feeling with every person but in the chemistry part of it
When you say intense you're not kidding is one of the most beautiful feelings I've ever felt except for the next level it gets even deeper and becomes even greater and that is pure spiritual and beautiful
I do know the feeling that you're talking about and I love that feeling I crave that feeling sometimes and that intense connection that you're talking about
I get that feeling every time that I answer one of your questions or we chat on a question that one of us has answered
Most people with the letter M scribed in their Palm like your mom's hand I think like your hand I think gets those feelings when they meet certain people
It is a beautiful end zone frequency that tells us something about that other person
Something just ran the part of a Bible verse by me I've never read the Bible but the message I got was bring Heaven to Earth and as it is in heaven I don't know what that means I do know what that means but I don't because I don't know the verse so what that tells me is that one day we will feel that 24 hours a day if there is 24 hours in the day LOL in time
That feeling also tells me is there are thousands of people like you on this planet and one day we all have to come together and that feeling with every single one of us will project that feeling to change the world somehow
I've been told this since I was 5 years old but I never understood it
But it is a form of love and that connection that you're talking about it's so easy to fall in love because of that connection of that intense feeling now we can take it a step even further and make love with that feeling and then that's when you go to another level when you hear me talk about becoming one with somebody well making love and you both finish and you have an out-of-body experience for 20 to 30 minutes this is what I'm talking about it takes you to a higher level and it Peaks that chemistry feeling Peaks that intensity Peaks to the highest point of the real you becoming authentic and love at the same time that frequency the most real frequency you will ever feel or at least so far that's where it has taken me and it is the most peaceful beautiful feeling ever
Now once again I have to say for me this is real I'm not trying to say that I'm right because I don't know but I do know that I'm close
And of course it all sounds crazy but that's okay would I really want to do is find another empath connect and experience that intense connection to the highest peak to see what happens to have that out of Body Experience but with somebody that knows what's going on
I have experienced it with girlfriends before and when they come out of that out of Body Experience they said what in the world just happened and of course it's hard to explain
And each time that it happens and you go into that out of body experience that peaceful calm just pure love feeling it changes Who You Are and it makes you look at life and makes you look at everything way deeper
I truly don't know what it means but I know the feeling that you're talking about and I absolutely love it I bet it goes to another level and another level just like everything in life
Yes and. A short intense connection can be real love but can also be just a chemical attraction. A hot flaring chemical attraction can also become real love if both parties nourish it

It was a movie, love. In real life people tend to stick to their social classes. In her case she was stuck in a boat with a VERY toxic guy and made up for it by slumming with young Jack for what she thought would be a week-long fling before she was forced to marry Mr. Moneybags to save/advance her family. It wasn’t true love… It was literally the Titanic disaster….
@TediumIsTheWorstPain Nope. I've looked the same since I was 10. Just not allowed to be out and about till college. Before that only at the occasional social activity there would always be a guy nudging a mutual friend to connect us. There's still one guy from elementary school who keeps coming around too. I don't know what it is. Certainly not the boob size, though.

That Titanic-type “we just met but I’d die for you” vibe is usually intense chemistry plus fantasy plus emotional projection.
Real love needs time, consistency, and seeing each other’s flaws without ghosting or lovebombing.

I personally, tend to fall for someone pretty fast. It's all about all the similarities I find they have with me in terms of views, interests (yes I know girls tend to have different interests, but I mean stuff like love for outdoors and nature, and maybe the shows they watch, etc.), sense of humor, goals in life (where they want to end up in life), etc
I think those connections, especially if they feel the same intense attraction, can definitely be "real" love.
I don’t believe it’s a real love. I always create intense short connections, but that’s just it. To have it maintained is the real love, which I have been struggling with.
Luckily, I’ve loved twice and one lasted for 4 years another 2. Still love them both but I am no longer in love with them.
Love isn’t a feeling. It’s a series of commitments. You can choose to commit to someone who inspires strong feelings in you. Or you can choose to not. There is no love without commitment.
No matter what people want to believe, physical attraction almost always happens first, love happens later.
A short, intense connection is chemistry... that may develop into love later.
If you had asked me that a couple of years ago or more I would have said there’s no such thing as love at first sight or a “spark” or any of those Hollywood tropes
But then I met someone in an unlikely place
And I felt something that truly cannot be explained without sounding corny af.
Basically what I had with this woman was terrifying, it was like auto pilot
Whatever we said clicked
We clearly saw each other as very attractive people
We had an instant bond that felt unbreakable
But the same circumstances that brought her in my life took her away within 6 months
And I lost my chance at having a true romance with her
I should note that she was seeing someone when we met so I respected her boundaries and she remained faithful. At least physically.
Because despite that the emotional relationship we had was too hard to resist
I had hoped she would end her relationship and I would be first in line to ask her out.
But it didn’t go that way.
On the bright side ai learned a valuable lesson:
Love is a real thing. It’s rare and volatile and certainly not enough without proper timing but it’s real. You can almost hold it in your hands
I don’t know if I’ll find that again in the near or distant future but I have faith that it’s possible
It can be both but this chemistry and intense feelings makes you want to continue with this person which turns into a serious relationship that leads to marriage and marriage should be a forever commitment and love, so this whole forever thing starts with these little steps...

I think it is just a strong chemistry as I believe real love takes time to grow as many factors are involved. It's not just have great dates, good times in the sack, where everything is rosey dosey, it also entails things one often doesn't see for a long time in the relationship such as money management, work ethic, his family and how do they feel about you etc.
Possible. In titanic, It showed Rose was deeply unhappy with her life, so when Jack came to save her she felt grateful and appreciative to this random stranger. Let’s face it, her mother was demanding and Cal was controlling, no wonder she was unhappy. She must have found an attraction to Jack for being so caring to her and her attraction grew as she got to know him.

m I believe that love is a feeling. So whatever designation comes to mind, real, not real, whatever, to me, love is love.
However I also believe that this feeling coexists with other feelings. So, love & excitement, for example, I would call that strong chemistry or intense connection. Love & peace of mind, or love & determination could be what people call "real love".
I don't see much difference. To me, an intense connection and strong chemistry are pretty much the same thing.
I think real love takes time though. It might seem like real love early on. It might really be real love. But it takes time to know for sure.
That kind of connection isn’t deep love, it’s more like meeting someone your age on a cruise or summer trip, intense, emotional, unforgettable, and then completely gone once real life starts.
And let’s not pretend it proves anything deeper, they barely knew each other and were already sleeping together. That’s not some grand evidence of true love, it’s just fast-moving chemistry doing its thing.
Jack and Rose? Just bad timing and a sinking ship making everything feel legendary. Give them a few months on land and it’s way less “epic romance” and way more “we barely know each other.”
No. I’ve realized if someone classifies a very short connection as “love” then they have never experienced what it is to “love or be loved”.
love isn’t something that comes quickly, it’s something that comes once you are comfortable and trusting.
but who am I to judge, I just choose not to associate myself with people that move to fast in a “relationship” then break up and cry about it not actually being “love”
Sometimes you just really click with people ya know, and when it's the opposite sex and they're attractive it can definitely have a profound meaning. I have had relationships with women where right off the bat I've just felt really comfortable with them right away.

I think you can call it whatever you want. The label doesn't change the reality. If you felt like you were in love, then you were in love. No terminology can overwrite how you actually felt in those moments.

No. What you're describing is "limerence". And a lot of women falsely mistake that for love. Limerence lasts typically anywhere from 18 months to 3 years. I wouldn't assume it's love till at least the 3 year mark. If you can make it to the 3rd year and not hate the person yet, you got a good chance of it being the real deal.😆
It can be, but the tricky part is that early intensity and genuine love can feel almost identical in the moment.
To me its not ‘real love’ as to me that kind is long lasting.
instead those are what i call situationships where yiu have this very passionate short time then it fizzles out as quickly as it began. I had one of those.

In a way, i kind of did have this. I met someone amazing on a residential training course that i knew only distantly previously. We ended up practically living together for 4-5 days, and only caught up again a couple of times.
It wasn't a crush. I knew her enough to respect her beforehand, but there wasn't some simmering desire.
It wasn't love either in the sense of building a common life and together either.
But it felt exactly the same as any time I have loved anyone before, for those few days.
