Why would a partner delete opposite-sex contacts from your phone?

I used to know this guy who always contacted me to hang out and go out with his friend’s circle and join his French expats community here, one day he just randomly disappeared which was odd… Because he was always so enthusiastic to meet me.

Now I created new social media, where he found me and apologized that his new wife deleted my account and now he wants to follow my Insta.

Why do partners delete your opposite sex contacts? 😄

And should I let him follow me again? 😄

He traveled to my city with his friends once to see me. But I was busy 😄
Not sure his wife will like us meeting each other. I myself am just totally friendly to him and have always been.

If a partner did something like that to me, I would be outraged. I would probably kick her ass to the curb because I couldn't love or respect someone like that.

Going into someone else's phone and deleting contacts and/or photos is outrageously entitled and controlling. It's actually psycho.

My stuff is my stuff, it's not our stuff. I say that as a man who has been happily married for almost 30 years.

If I'm with someone, it is because I choose to be with them. That doesn't mean that they own me. Trying to control me would drive me away.

A partner that does that is showing great insecurity in their relationship, and also violating their partner's privacy. What right does anyone have to delete anything in another person's phone?

That relationship is in trouble, and possibly doomed.

If you and he get along, sure, accept his follow request.

Could be multiple reasons but I think it’s usually insecurity. She probably feels you are a threat to her marriage. I don’t think it’s right though to do stuff like that though.

If there is no trust then the relationship should end honestly… I’d let him follow me. Nothing wrong with that…

His wife was wrong to delete your contact, but he was also wrong for keeping in communication with you in the first place.
They're both wrong. She shouldn't be controlling, but at the same time, he should man up and set boundaries for himself.

Some people are irrationally jealous. That's the only thing I can come up with. They don't believe their SOs should know anyone of the opposite sex because the SO will be abandoned for all those others. It's sad to have low self-esteem..
