Why are so many people uncomfortable talking over the phone?

As someone that hates his phone and my wife has that attitude about wanting to talk on the phone all the time, I'm going to try and calmly explain myself.

So I do stuff... I could be playing Battlefield 6, doing dishes, or cooking. She calls... she just talks. Now I'm getting murdered on Battlefield 6, trying to do dishes with one hand, or trying to cook with one hand or getting a major neck cramp by trying to hold the phone while I'm doing stuff. Meanwhile...

She's talking about some bitch named Jazzmine at work that I don't work at and I don't know that bitch, and telling me why she was in a bad mood today. Like for reals woman, I'm trying to do stuff and I don't give a shit!!! I'm trying to be polite, but at the same time I want her to know she's making my life harder just because she's fucking bored and has nothing better to do than call me to talk about bullshit.

You see why I hate that fucking phone? It's like I'm teathered to the outside world when I got shit to do... even if it is just a stupid video game. Dishes is the worst... my hands are wet and soapy and she wants me to fuck around on my phone instead of getting the job done? WTF? Fuck that phone, and fuck all the stupid talking...

That's my feelings... not sure if many other people feel like I do. It's not just my wife either... the kid's school trying to beg me for money, scammers (we've all talked to an Indian), and people trying to sell me something... I don't want to make time for them. The talking is pointless. They could just send a text so I could just ignore them without holding a phone to my ear.

I love talking on the phone that's even like meeting somebody online and either role-playing with them or having phone sex with them people don't understand there's a physical touch and there is a spiritual and energy touch it touches 10 times deeper in the energy touch that you can in real life physical touch it's one of the most beautiful experiences and until you experience that you don't have a clue what I'm even talking about

Don't get me wrong physical touches beautiful But an energy touch Will pierce your body We'll touch everything inside of you and in all reality you can have a 10 times better orgasm on the phone then you can in real life if it's done right

People are going to say bullshit but I guarantee it I promise it and I can prove it

That is how the world has become. I know people that text each other while living in the same house. It really is pathetic. I turned off messaging on my phone so people had to talk to me, and it works like a charm.

I prefer talking on the phone more than texting. I can easily explain myself verbally than in writing.. Some people are shy or they're self conscious about their voice.

People hate phone calls because they feel intense, instant, and exposing. No time to edit like texting. Introverts feel drained, anxiety kicks in, and silence on the phone feels like rejection. Also, many grew up texting, not calling, so phone skills never developed.

FaceTime or voice notes feel safer and more flirty than an old-school call.

Texting is convenient for asking simple questions, giving short answers, and sending photos, but it's terrible for conversations. It's like having a conversation with an avatar via telegraph.

On the phone, you can hear vocal inflections and laughing, and have actual two way conversations. You can connect in a way that you can't via text-telegraph and emojis.

The only thing better than talking on the phone is face to face where you can both hear and see the person. You can read their non-verbal cues-body language.

I suspect that people who avoid actual conversations lack dept and/or self-confidence. They either don't know how to converse or they don't want to commit time to a conversation.

I don't know why, it's just awkward to me. If it's a friend or family member, or even at work if it was a customer, I'm fine. But when it comes to my own personal matters, for some reason I just hate dealing with that over the phone. I prefer to do it in person or through text. I'll literally go into town for things I could just call for, because I HATE dealing with personal business matters over the phone.

Most communication is non verbal, but that requires being able to see the other person. You can't can't see the other person when talking on the phone.

A lot of people just don’t like talking on the phone. When I was younger, I didn’t like talking on the phone, but that was because I had a terrible stutter.

I'm not really sure about this, but I suspect it's because people are really self-conscious about their voice or self-conscious about their inability to string words together into an actual sentence. Maybe both.
