Do men experience more regret than women in relationships?

I used to naively believe men regret mostly for their mistakes and what they lost.
And women for their own desires. Basically I used to think women were more selfless at the start, of a relationship and selfish at the end.
Whereas men who are selfish from the start but end up being selfless in the end.

But lately I have seen that both genders are just suffering.
Just on different parameters.

I feel women get more support and options so the time to get out is less compared to men.

But at the same time I feel men regret to love someone as well.
I have been in a toxic situation where I was just emotionally used.
But never got any support or care. It Took me time to build a boundary because building one for a person who you love is too difficult.
And I regret that I should have done it on day one.
