If I wait for him, will he like it, honor it, come back - without to bother him. Don't want to ask a silly question.

He said he thinks often about me but rarely text or answer me. In a few weeks he will leave and go back to America. His kids live in my country.

So what would you ask if you want to know a) wait or b) he will forget about me and don't care if I wait? And let him the freedom to answer polite but clearly?
