Am I being unreasonable?
I have a friend who has been on-and-off dating the same guy for about four years. For years, she’s been asking me to come to his house in Surrey and spend time with him, even though I’ve repeatedly said no.
Part of the reason I’m uncomfortable is that both he and my friend have spoken negatively about me and laughed about me behind my back in the past. I’ve since forgiven them and moved on. It was years ago but I haven’t been him since.
During one of their brief breakups, he also flirted with me, which made me uncomfortable because he knew she and I were friends.
On top of that, I generally don’t enjoy hanging out with my friends’ talking stages or people they’re dating, especially when I don’t know them. I often feel like a third wheel, and he’s not someone I’d naturally choose as a friend myself.
he's expressed to my friend he wants to hang out with me because he likes my style and my friend keeps asking me about my style.
My friend knows I don’t feel comfortable around him, but she still keeps asking me to come over and says he’s upset that I don’t want to.
Am I being unreasonable for not wanting to go to his house, or would most people feel the same way? Do you think my friend is wrong for continuously asking me to hang out with him over the years?
