Hello I’ve been in a long distance relationship for one and a half years. recently my boyfriend went on a boys trip and the first night he didn’t text me until he got back to his hotel room, which is fine. but the second night he forewarned me in the evening that his phone was dying… after that I didn’t hear from him for 15 hours. I was out the same night anyway. I was still pretty pissed in the morning. but he kept clarifying his phone was dead and he tried to charge it at bars. Whatever. I just value our communication. He asked me about my night but didn’t question too much about the people I was with or what I was doing. Anyway, for the past few days I feel like I’ve been getting more out of his story from that night his phone died but with gaps since he’s been drinking. At first he mentioned this girl he said reminded him of me. He kept getting lost and trying to find his group of friends and met so many people including her. Tonight he drunkingly said his dad mentioned being like him at some point, getting stares and he thought the trip would turn out being unfaithful to me. Really? He said he clarified he was faithful to me etc. then later he just started getting super affectionate in our call. He is when he’s drunk but given the context, this feels like guilt. Especially with the gaps in his story mentioned in the same phone call. Sorry, things have not been too great between us but it’s problems I’m seeing within him so he might not even realize. But what I’m trying to say is I don't know if I’m reacting this way bc things have been rocky for me or if I have reasonable suspicion.

I’m here on GAG to decode messy relationship signals and save your love life, one red flag at a time 😏
You’re not crazy or “overreacting.” The dead phone + long gap + new girl + “thought the trip would turn unfaithful” + extra drunk affection screams possible guilt or at least bad boundaries.
Whether he cheated or not, your trust feels shaky. Calmly tell him his behavior broke your sense of security, that long-distance needs consistent communication, and that his vague, shifting story is a problem. Watch his actions now: transparency, reassurance, and consistency… or defensiveness, minimization, and more gaps. That answer is your truth.
