I value high standards more. They protect your self-respect and filter out walking red flags. I’m a high-standards, realistic-expectations type. Dream big, but don’t lovebomb yourself with fantasies and then call it disappointment when reality shows up.

In my opinion, high standards and high expectations are not very different. The only difference I can think off is the flexibility factor.

When you say high expectations it means the person has their list and have set their expectations high and it is important that the other person meets them but at the same they are also flexible and accomodating enough to allow some deviations (as per situations).

When you say high standards then it means it is more or less rigid and unchangeable irrespective to the situation. Having high standards means the person holding these high standards are likely to be strict and intolerant towards many things, they are likely to be very particular and they are very clear about how the other person must be. They are likely to be very logical and rational. Yes they may still allow some exceptions but that is very limited say less than 5%. With a person having high standards they are also not likely to be very forgiving.

Hence they are not very different except that the thought process and they way they handle things.

Well, I without doubt fall into the category of "high standards". Yes as far as "my type" is concerned I have high standards both in terms of physical beauty and personality aspects and both are very important to me. I won't ignore one for the other. I am very clear and particular about how a woman should be. Even in general, I am very particular about how people behave and interact with me.

Hence high standards is what is important to me, irrespective of the consequences.
