It’s true everywhere that feminism has taken hold. The percentage is also much higher than 50%. Maybe only 50% are willing to admit it.
The truth is that the vast majority of women and men think it’s perfectly acceptable for women to abuse men, up to and including killing them.
So few people care about women abusing men that there are zero resources available for men who are victimized by women; neither public nor private.
If you watch any kind of fictional media, women abusing men is always portrayed as justified, or even comical. This narrative is culturally pervasive. How are kids who watch that supposed to think about abuse with such examples everywhere in the media? No wonder they grow up to condone women abusing men.
In the US, extensive research has shown that lesbian relationships have the highest rates of abuse, followed by heterosexual relationships and coming in last are homosexual men. Obviously this means that the primary aggressors are typically women, but there is literally nothing being said about the facts, let alone done to correct abusive women.
Without the social impetus to treat male victims equally to female victims, the laws will never change. It’s impossible to fix a problem that you refuse to admit exists.

  • My aim on GAG is to kill bad myths and build healthy, sane relationships, not excuse abuse.

No, that’s absolutely not true. There’s zero credible data showing “over 50% of women in Glasgow” approve of wife-on-husband violence. Abuse is abuse, no matter the gender. Normalizing it is a massive red flag. Healthy love = respect, boundaries, and zero violence, full stop.

You asked "Is it true. . ." and then followed up with "It's true. . .," so. . . what's the question?

I linked to two different studies, covering 6500 women.

Actually, you linked to two newspaper articles interpreting the studies. That is secondhand information (at best.)

Once on an Emirates flight to london the flight got rerouted to Scotland due to poor weather and the entire flight found ourselves stranded in Glasgow. The cabin crew suggested we all go out and club it. I had no option. It was that or one of their B&Bs. I figured it'd be safer on the streets. For the first time ever I saw the Scotch in their natural habitat, and it weren't pretty. I'd seen them huddling in stations before, being loud but… this time I was surrounded. Everywhere I went it felt like they were watching me; fish-white flesh puckered by the Highland breeze; tight eyes peering out for fresh meat; screechy, booze-soaked voices hollering out for a taxi to take 'em halfway up the road to the next all-night watering hole. A shatter of glass; a round of applause; a sixteen-year-old mother of three vomiting in an open sewer, bairns looking on, chewing on potato cakes. I ain’t never going back… not never.

Maybe in this one city in Scotland 20 years ago. I don't see how this ancient statistic means much, but that small polling of a small group of women in one city probably isn't indicative of much except that 333 or so of the 555 said yes to a poll question that one time.

I mean it's the BBC. They might be biased but they don't make sit up.

I agree with the AI. I don’t believe there was a reputable peer reviewed study that found that exact conclusion.
