My wife gets upset if I inadvertently walk in or her while she is changing, taking a shower or on the toilet.

She occasionally does that to me, and I don't react at all.

We've seen each other naked many times, been intimate with each other.

So what is it?

I don’t think this is a gendered issue. Some people are just more modest than others, men and women both.
I for one have a hard rule about entering the bathroom while i’m using the toilet. Toilet time is completely private, and i will permanently remove from my life anyone who doesn’t respect that. If you’re watching each other sh*t, you’re either very weird or the romance is completely gone.
I don’t think any of the women i have lived with freaked out about me walking in on them changing or bathing, but i have had the toilet time argument more than once. Some b*tches be thinkin’ that watching someone p*ss and sh*t is “intimacy”.

The rules of privacy are different for different people. But yeah, women tend to have all sorts of hang ups about their bodies, social convention, etc. that don't phase men. There's the famous "lights off during sex" and the classic "never let a guy see you pee".

I think everyone has different boundaries. I think it's quite normal for your wife to want to have privacy when in the bathroom or changing. Personally, I get changed in front of my husband all the time, and he'll sometimes shave in the bathroom well I'm showering. I don't want him seeing me when I'm going number 2. Those are my boundaries. I don't really think women have more boundares. Perosonaly I share a lot more then my husband does borth IRL and online and I show a lot more skin then he does. Ths is typical for most women I feel.

Yes. I believe it is how most of us girls are raised, for better or worse. Depends on your viewpoint. Girls are taught, at least I was, that girls and there bodily functions are a private matter.

I have had to share a bathroom with my younger brother most of my life. I am careful for his privacy and my own. Even at school, girls amongst girls tend to save certain things until there are no other girls around.

Yeah, privacy rules can totally *feel* different. For many women, privacy isn’t about you, it’s about control, comfort, body image, mood, hormones, and how safe she feels in that moment.

I personally like my own space when I'm taking a dump or taking a leak, but walking in while I'm in the shower, I don't care. I extend the same respect for my partner's space when they're doing their business. But I find it strange if they are uncomfortable with me seeing them nude as if we haven't both seen all the goods before. I think it's a bit of a red flag if your partner isn't comfortable with you seeing them nude.

It's individual. My ex gave no second thought to me sticking my head into the bathroom while she was doing whatever. I also had a brother in law that would absolutely wig out if his wife did something similar. Guess it has more to do with expectations you grew up with, though those csn change as well.

I have a combined shower toilet bathroom and even after establishing familiarity, women resent intrusion. On the other hand in the reverse, they don't have any boundaries in intruding on me. Exactly the same experience as you.

It took me a while to get comfortable with my boyfriend doing that and I still don’t like it when he walks in when I’m going to the bathroom. Though granted he was (and is) my first serious boyfriend (the others were all high school things and we never had the opportunity to get so close to each other).

We don’t live together yet, but now that I’m over eighteen our parents pretty much give us all the privacy we need when we stay over each other’s houses.

I think it's simply respect for "me time". Not many people want to share a bowel movement. And if they do there's something wrong with them.😆 So there are just sometimes when a courtesy knock is the bare minimum. And they want you to just go away altogether.

And no i don't think rules of privacy are different for genders. I think they're different for individual.
