So my boyfriend hasn't had a steady job in he past two years, he runs a contruction, cleaning and catering company. Some months are very good some jobs pay well he has a few steady cleaning contracts. He has no employees rn per say but he has guys with specific trades he calls to do jobs for him, he pays them he gets a cut. My job is different i work in aviation since i was 18, started as a checkin agent but i do baggage and ramp on somedays, i'm also in my second year of nursing school and i do virtual assitant side gigs also i sell wigs, hair products and knit swimsuits. I know its a lot but i make it work.
Today, i was going over to his house called him asked what he was eating and if i should buy food. He said he was having the sourdough bread i made with chicken and avacado, i asked if any was left for me said no he and his kid ate it. He asked if i could grab some juice and snacks and i can buy what i want he'll make it for me. I grabbed a box of mac n cheese easy to not stress him out and drove over. Got the there handed him the stuff said the mac n cheese was mine. He said okay, i went to shower came back he's laying down. I go check if the food is on the stove not there. I go back ask about it and he says he didn't know i want it rn. His mom made soup and i can have some soup. I love soup but his mom does not cook with salt or meat. I said i dont want soup i gave u what i wanted. He asked what was wrong with me i love soup or am i too good for his mom's soup. I said nvm and went to have a snack, I haven't eaten been at work since 2am and its now 3pm. 'So you thought that was okay' he said to me walking into the kitchen. 'Whats wrong with saying nvm' I asked while eating chips. I had beer in his fridge him and his mom drank it i went to the store got another 1 but they only had lemon. "Did u only buy lemon so my mom and i wouldn't drink it" he said it jokingly but i didn't find it funny. I was just tired and didn't wanna burn myself and he offered.

My aim on GAG is to help you decode messy relationship dynamics and spot red flags vs normal friction.
You were 100% NOT wrong to be upset. You were exhausted, hungry, brought your own food, clearly said it was yours, and he still:
didn’t cook it, tried to guilt-trip you with his mom’s soup, then made snarky comments about the beer.
That’s not cute, that’s dismissive. The real issue isn’t the mac n cheese, it’s him ignoring your needs and then flipping it like you’re the problem. Big communication red flag, babe.
