What parts of yourself would you hold back on purpose?

I'm actually a fan of terminal relationships. The best part about being a male military dependent, is the other dependents are usually female and we both end up with no partner for about a year at the same time. So I usually end up making a deal that is mutually beneficial. Obviously all the sex benefits but things like mutual grocery shopping and help each other out, going out to do things, and all that jazz.
With that said, a lot of magic happens when we both know this isn't forever. I think males will know what I'm talking about when a woman has those long term plans, and will nag and haggle everything you do because she's trying to make you what's best for her. That's not there and if it shows up, it's easy to nip it in the butt and put an end to the naggy BS. So you can drink if you want, have opinions that she doesn't need to share, it doesn't matter. The best part, is if you get bored or tired of her... just end it. The flaw in that last bit is usually due to her wanting to try new dick and then come back, and I'm just not that guy. I don't mind if she wants some strange, but she needs to move on after that... I have a 4 month rule because I'm paranoid about STD's.
Anyways, I would pursue it. It's usually really free, less judgement, no real controlls being placed on you. I find the honesty factors are really high in terminal relationships and communication doesn't get messy or complicated.
It depends on the expiration reason.
If the other person is dying and we had an amazing connection I would make her final days the best she ever had and cherish the memories after she’s gone.
If it’s just because she’s planning to leave the country at a set date then I would skip it.
Why bother getting entangled and later having a toxic ending to something that could have been beautiful.
(There are exceptions to both cases as well)
Ah, I accidentally clicked on “avoid the relationship”. désolé
Yes, I could still choose it if the relationship itself was valuable. But I no longer see the expiration date as a positive feature (in the past, I thought it was ideal ). I’d see it as a limitation that might be worth accepting depending on what the relationship was manifesting.
If it was going to be a fun year, then sure. Life is short; you can't waste it.
I’m here on GAG to decode love, red flags, and all the messy magic in between 💕
Yeah, I’d still do it. A year of real connection can change your life. I’d enjoy it fully, but I wouldn’t merge finances, move in, or plan long‑term future stuff. I’d protect my heart a bit, avoid deep dependency, but still let myself fall in love enough to make it meaningful, not traumatizing.

I really like this question because I've never really looked at it like this
When we meet somebody and we like them we usually want to take it further not thinking about the outcome in a year from now
That's how most relationship starts
You meet each other you like each other and of course you want more
For me I have to be honest with myself And say okay if I get into a relationship Will it last Because if it doesn't you break up And you're not friends anymore so what's more important friendship Are basically sex because One of the reasons why you get together
And by being honest I have a lot of friends that are girls
Because I said what's more important Sex Or longevity of a friendship
And friendship has always been the winner
Because when any relationship or starting every relationship it's because you like that person but you also want to have sex with them
In time the part that you knew would not work somewhere down the road finally catches up to you you break up and you're not friends anymore
I'm reading your question and thinking okay what we're going to get together we're going to have sex but what part are you going to hold back
I think in relationships we all do that to a point we don't let that person see all of us we only give so much
But at the same time for me that's what makes me me is going that extra distance and giving more so they experience more with me about me and see the real me
But I know that there are parts that I don't share all the way and I've always felt that was kind of rude of me
So I don't even know if I answered your question but I do like the question because it means a lot if people would look at it this way
It's like a relationship with a time share You're going to get into this relationship and then you're going to make it the best Things possible but at this day On that certain day it ends
Interesting
Almost every relationship that we begin has an expiration date but we just don't know what the date is until it arrives. There is always a possibility that this is The One and the two of you, together, will find a way to make it last. So, I say. . . go for it!
I wouldn't and I don't think anyone else should. You should pursue a relationship with the intent of marriage. If you go into it with that kind of mindset, you're just wasting each other's time, emotion, and effort. You're likely just trying to fill a void or use each other.
I entered my current relationship not expecting it to last forever. I mean, the likelihood of any relationship being the one is not high. It turns out that mine was the one for my girlfriend and me, but it would be foolish to enter a relationship expecting it to be the last one you'll be in.
What do you mean ,"it would end in a year"? Like they're leaving the country? Going across the country? They're terminal? I mean you say it like it's DEFINITELY over after a year.
No! I wouldn't. Now if there's something that would separate her and i for some time after a year that's a whole nother animal. Because yes i would if i really thought she was worth it, worth waiting for.
Generally I'd avoid it but one time we decided to give it a shot anyway. It lasted past the "expiration date" and only ended because I found out she was unfaithful.
So sometimes its worth taking a chance.
I would not get a pet together... lol
I knew somebody that I wanted to date but knew that in 5 months she would be moving to go to college out of state 400 miles away. I struggled with the decision but decided to pass on it.
I will have to agree with some others here. I’m not getting myself into a relationship that has been doomed from the start. If a girl told me she’s moving away, it basically means I’m just a stand-in
I don't know, it depends on the reason why we are goung to split up, by the way, there is an episode of black mirror that start similar to this, it is pretty cute I recommend it.
My wife is 32b. My step daughter is 32 G, so funny because she's so short and skinny. I thought she was putting on serious weight or pregnant until I walked in on her in the bathroom just out of the shower. Anyway as soon as she's legal im gone.
It depends if that person is good I would start friendship but not a relationship
Have you met anyone & facing this complicated situation?
Yes, everything has expiration date. Even our universe
It depends on whether I wanted anything serious or not.
Of course. Your life is just one period after another until you die. If you can make one period better you should dive in.
It's not definitive. It's complex
If is just dates and sex. No married and no future like child etc.
Yesss.
But like you are going to fall in love then noooooooo
Yes. And I might try to hold back, but if I really liked the person I wouldn’t be able to.
Relationship... no way
Just a hookup... yeah sure
Nope there's no point, it's would be a waste of my time
It would just be an add-on for me, so I wouldn't care.
I'm not really much for what if scenarios. I'd rather focus on what is.
Life's short live it up! Fuck till the end date!
And young women swing from guys like monkeys swing from trees.
Not I... I'm too clingy. I'm in it for the long haul.
Depends on the situation id try to enjoy it as long as it lasts
In whatever condition i dont like relationship burden.
How would you know that
Avoid it 1000 percent
Avoid it, i want something that lasts forever...
That defeats the purpose of a relationship
If i know its going to end then whats the point
I would avoid
