Typically, in cases like yours, with no minor children (hence, no child support) all of the assets acquired during the marriage get split 50-50 in a divorce. Your house can be sold, with the proceeds split 50-50, or one of you gets to keep the house, with the other person getting money equivalent to the house's equity value.
Chances are, you will lose the house.
So probably sell
And sell other stuff
And split 50 50
But she already said she wouldn't live there on her own
So she might agree to give to me
That's pretty shallow of you to be honest, if this is even legit. You want to leave her over her weight when she's given you two kids and most likely taken care of you and your home? Is this some kind of mid life crisis for you?
If that's the real reason you are leaving then I hope you do lose the house in a divorce. Consider it a tax for your selfishness.
That's just 25% of the reason
I'm just mentioning her weight on passing. It's more like the hate
And while it seems shallow
Things have gone downhill
And I'm just thinking out loud
There's many reasons
It's her entire body language
Just kinda grosses me out
I'm not saying she's fat, let's dump her
I'm saying things have disimproved between us
Physically yes I have an issue with her
She's overbearing
I want a woman to be feminine
Here is a lesson for the ladies.
Choose your man wisely before you throw your life away on a man like this.
I agree
Lessons learned by everyone
The only way you will lose your house is if you are forced to sell it to pay for your share of the settlement. If you have enough cash to do that, you don't have to sell your house.
Good answer
And I'm glad to hear that
It depends on a lot of things. For a typical couple you can expect to get 50% of joint assets. There are lots of reasons to vary that, but if it goes to court a finding outside the 40 to 60% range is uncommon. Maybe you have special circumstances.
I get that you are angry. Insulting her isn't going to make settlement easier for either of you.
If I were to hazard a guess I would say you will end up in a crappy apartment somewhere with some other poor divorced guy as a roommate.
Haha
That probably happens
I have a few assets
Yeah but enough to pay for two houses
And she gets one
Your wife's expansion is probably due to comfort eating as a response to being married to you. And yes, you will probably lose the house.
Haha
Whose side are you on?
You're totally woke?
I don't know you or your wife so I just took a wild guess.
Let's just say she always enjoyed her food
Steak
And over time that starts to show
I put on a few pounds myself
Then recent years I started going to the gym
In fairness to her she started going recently too
You know another way of looking at this, how can we get started talking again
I don't know, I'm not good at this stuff myself.
so... you don't have a lawyer
I did speak to a lawyer
He gave me professional advice
Split 50 50
She might also get some of my pension
No guarantees she gets the house because I have other assets
so... there's your answer
if you don't have a prenup
No prenup
But I don't think courts accept them?
fake and gay trolling

My aim on GAG is to help you untangle messy relationship knots without losing your sanity… or your house 😏
You won’t “automatically” lose your house. It depends on where you live, whose name is on the deed, when it was bought, and the laws on marital property. In many places, equity gets split, not the whole house taken.
Emotionally though, you sound checked out. That antipathy is a huge red flag. Before you blow things up, talk to a lawyer for legal clarity and maybe a therapist to unpack the resentment. Don’t self-sabotage out of frustration, especially after raising two adult kids together.
