Why do people in relationships go through each other’s phones?

Is it because they don’t trust them? What can it be? Or it can be normal? They could be curious. They would want to see their phone to see if they aren’t hiding anything. If they refuse to show them their phone it means they are hiding something!

That's the only thing I can think of. If my fiance wants to go through my phone, she's welcome to! There's nothing there for her to see!! I rarely ever turn it on except to make phone calls, 99% of which are to her, the rest are for Drs.. or to people about helping me get through a bills and things I'm dealing with. Or, to what quick YT videos if I'm waiting for the kettle to boil or taking a shit, or if the power goes out. I'm 1000% loyal to her and have NO intention of EVER doing anything to hurt her or even cheat on her!! She offered me the chance to go through her personal stuff a year ago but I refused the invite because I don't need to know who she talks to and I trust her. And, you can't really build a relationship with someone if there's a lack of trust, which is the foundation.

Beats me. My wife and I respect each other's privacy, and that includes our phones.

After my divorce, when I dated several women, we never examined each other's phones.

I guess those that do this are insecure in themselves and their relationship.

They must be in dodgy relationships. My husband and I share phones all the time, but we don't go through them. We don't have to because we have nothing to hide from each other. It is when someone refuses to let you look at their phone; you have a humongous red flag to deal with.

Refusing to show a phone doesn’t automatically mean they’re hiding something. Privacy is healthy.

Lack of trust. I wouldn't be in such a relationship. Most people assume that others are like themselves. People who don't cheat assume their partner won't either. People who cheat worry that their partner will do the same.

That would probably be due to some insecurity. Personally, I'd give my partner the same access they give me. I'd be extremely open to having carte blanche on each other's digital lives.

They should not that is a terrible thing to do with your partner. You either trust them or you don’t, if you feel you need to inspect their phone that probably says something.
