My boyfriend makes me feel dumb.

I've always had major issues with feeling like a dumb blond. and it has always bothered my when people have made dumb blond jokes or have made me feel stupid. my boyfriend always asks me random stuff like things most people do not know. for example, a random mountain in Thailand.. yesterday he did this again and I said what? (didn't even hear what he said) and he said I can't even have a conversation with you. it really got to me and upset me pretty bad. what am I supposed to do about this?

I feel stupid around my boyfriend too (he doesn't do it intentionally though)! I am an A+ student, studying math and science in college right now. My boyfriend, on the other hand, did not pass Math 11 the first time around and he's in general not very good at school. But he is incredibly intellectual & philosophical, and has a lot of knowledge. Me, I'm ignorant and not a very deep thinker.

What I'm getting at is that there are different kinds of intelligence. I'm sure you have so many wonderful qualities! He has no right to bring you down like that, especially on purpose! You have got to talk to him about this. He is supposed to be supportive and kind, not make you feel bad. You are worth so much more than this and deserve to be treated well. If, aftering calmly discussing this with him, he doesn't shape up, I would suggest leaving him because you do not want to be around toxic people like him.

thanks so much. it was just so mean.. and I wish I brought it up when he said it I just didn't wanna come off as sensitive. but I'm so upset. I like don't even feel like talking to him anymore

You aren't being sensitive. He was being rude. He said something offensive and you were offended, it is that simple. Before you talk to him, give yourself enough time to at least stay calm on the outside so you can discuss it rationally. In the meantime, do something that makes you feel sexy or smart. Because you are.

You should have said I did not hear you, can you repeat that? There are things that you know that your boyfriend doesn't. You can ask about that stuff. If you don't know, it's okay to say I'm not sure, but I'll find out for you. You can have a conversation through asking.
