People have in the past said I had behavioural issues
My TA’s said I disrespected them by being rude and abrasive
My professors said I didn’t know the difference between a buddy and a formal course instructor by being too personal or revelatory or casual in my conversations with them
My other professors hated me for exposing their bell curving practices to people online
Mu pastors hated me for my blatant discussion of their religious and spiritual authority
I evolved out of my old confrontational and aggressive ways with acts of kindness and constant meditation and service designed to glorify God’s name
What I learned today is that you don’t always choose your friends
Sometimes God or nature or circumstances choose your friends
If you have an annoying family member who never understands you or views you in an idealistic way and yet that person changed your diapers and clothed you
That obnoxious and annoying family member is your friend
If you have a coworker who is always gossiping about you and then they become very sick
That annoying coworker is the person God has asked you to be kind to
Instead of fantasizing about the Harvard deacons and NBA players you want to party with;
Acknowledge the mentally ill smoker who is begging you to socialize with them
Maturity is about not just pursuing your dream life but also about showing kindness to the people who pursue you, even if they annoy you
