A Sign of good, genuine and successful Christianity - my opinion

There are two traits I find in every successful and genuine Christian I know, and it’s not a matter of theology or ideology:

The two traits are generosity and an absence of greed.

You cannot love the people of God if you are greedy for material things.

You cannot love God or worship Him, if you lack generosity.

While in University, I heard of Christians who worked part time and donated their entire salary to charity, living only on student loans and family allowances. I also had college age contacts at church who donated so much money to charity, they ended up with credit card debt, and I knew Christians who refused money from me for services performed, even when they had lost their jobs, because they did not want to be a financial burden to me.

To love God, you must be generous: If you cannot offer your money, you can offer your time, your energy, your compassion, your humility, your effort, your care, and your respect.

To love Human beings, you must avoid greed: Do not watch tv if you have guests over, do not surf the internet during a zoom party, do not spend money buying yourself chocolate if you can’t afford to buy your niece a birthday gift, and do not buy yourself the most expensive cut of steak, if it prevents you from paying your parents their financial demands. Also, donate to the hospital that treated your disease, before buying those Jordan running shoes and if you can’t afford Jordan’s after donating to the hospital, buy yourself a Nike instead.

That isn’t the only definition of a Christian but to me it’s an indication the Christian might be a little more enlightened than a spiritual defector.
