One thing I’ve concluded is that if you are happy and confident and healthy and are interested in playing fair through giving others the same courtesy you give yourself, than you do not need attention or praise from others. I know people who love and attention and honour and esteem and I do not like it. The christian scriptures show us that honour is sometimes the coffin that prepares people for hell and not the herb that improves your mental and emotional well being by lengthening your reign and treating your sickness. I do not care too much about being second or third or fourth or fifth because I know I am safe in my position as second or fifth, being first is dangerous, when it is not restrained by a healthy sense of humility before God or other humans. I’ve met people in first position that made horrendous errors in judgment. God expects you to respect your obligations but you do not have to be top dog all the time.
