Who tends to be more forgiving: atheists or Christians?

Just to set the record straight, I'm skeptical that anybody can truly be atheist but lets suppose I'm wrong and it is possible, do you think atheists or Christians are more forgiving?

In seems in certain areas and especially for things it is uncommon to forgive people easily for, that Christians forgive more often. An example would be spousal abuse. The Christian would more often than the atheist to forgive. In other areas, the Christian is less likely to forgive like accusations of personal attacks. I don't know if their ideology on morals takes into effect or if this is random depending on the person.

Please share your views on who tends to be more forgiving!

I say whoever is willing to forgive. Many Christians are taught to forgive but don't. They think feeling dictate everything. Some atheists forgive even without being taught, and many don't like Christians don't. So this has nothing to do with affiliation, but how you were taught and freewill. But I believe that since Christians and those with traditional values who were taught to forgive are slightly more likely to do so that those who grew up around and was taught or influenced not to.

it will be a different experience for everyone. all our hearts are different.

i forgive easily not becasue im agnostic/atheist

but becasue it much easier to forgive and carry a lighter load to keep going through life. holding grudges require a lot of your life line. rather spend my time on more efficient things.

Obviously atheists. Christians will say that you burn in hell FOREVER for doing something wrong unless you accept Jesus as essentially your sugar daddy.
Atheists don't say that. We forgive you.

As far as truly being atheist goes, you're truly atheist when it comes to Thor or Zeus. It's interesting that people used to believe in many gods, then it came down to a few less until now most people only believe in one god. Getting closer to the real figure as time goes on.

Also, it is quite arrogant to assume you are right that being atheist is possible. I already humbly confessed I could be wrong. You should do the same.

Zeus and Thor were just as real as gods as what your god is to you. The Greeks definitely didn't see Zeus as a false idol.
I'm am atheist so it's possible to be Atheist. I don't believe in God at all. I acknowledge god as existing purely in people's minds and as a fictional character in books, movies and television shows.

Of course you can say you are and think you are. It isn't proof there's a such thing. And you are assuming Jesus is not real. God can exist despite your wish for Him not to.

Why do Christians tend to forgive spousal abuse more then?

Schizophrenics can say they are mentally healthy. Simply saying so and thinking so doesn't make it true. They can be mistaken and are. The same could apply to you. Nobody assumes they are wrong. I admitted I could be but you arrogantly assert it is impossible you can be mistaken.

I honestly haven't gone and looked up the statistics on the rate of forgiveness for Christians and atheists, I was just guessing based off of my own judgement. When it comes to spousal abuse, I would say Christians might be more willing to reconcile due to them being bound by their beliefs on their marriage being a holy union. So the fear of God influences their decision. Spousal abuse is certainly not something which should be tolerated though. So atheists seem to have the common sense stance on that one. As I said, I haven't seen the statistics so I couldn't confirm or not.

I also don't "wish" for god not to exist, I just don't believe it does and yes I assume Jesus isn't real. There is a small chance there was a man who the character Jesus is based on but he wouldn't recognise himself if he saw the way he is depicted now and he definitely didn't have magic powers.

True. It wouldn't matter what influenced their decision. It would still be a fact if that's true. It probably isn't much difference now. The percent difference of fornication among atheists and Christians is likely not super different.

Then I find it a really hard question because it also depends on what kind or religious beliefs. There are so many different sects of Christianity. So I still think it could be on a more individual scale, but I do think beliefs play a factor yes sir.

from what I've seen atheists tend to be middle of the road, while christians are more polarized on the matter, tending toward either extreme depending on how Christlike they are.
