Have you ever felt close to somebody who shared your beliefs?

There was a guy I knew that I was constantly smiling and laughing around and super talkative with and I learned today he comes from a very religious Christian family, I had no idea, I thought he was Hindu or Muslim but I think his religiosity and faith in God is why I liked his personality so much. I never liked him in a romantic way, but he made me happier than nearly every date I’ve ever been on with a guy, I just did not have romantic feelings for him.

For me, it's less like beliefs or interests and more like our perspectives and way of talking. I've felt so close to people whose beliefs and some of their values were almost opposite of mine, but the way we expressed ourselves and communicated felt like we knew each other all our lives and could overcome any differences together even though we just met.

I would instantly feel close to almost anyone who shares my beliefs, my best friend and I became this close because this is one of the reasons.
