Is atheism and being antireligion and believing death is the end edgy and cool?

What a nice, fair, unbalanced poll.
Six options, all of which are just you agreeing with yourself.
I don't... disbelieve in afterlife claims to be 'cool'. I disbelieve in afterlife claims because they're not based on anything credible.
And I happen to be 'anti-religion' because of the harm religion does.
All of the poll options are nonsense -
It's only 'weird', 'sad' or 'pitiful' because it's something you happen to be unfamiliar with.
I happen to think it's really weird that people... believe in a skywizard they can't demonstrate. Theists use that claim to just stick their fingers in their ears to avoid dealing with topics like mortality. Now /that's/ what's pitiful.
It's not self-destructive, either. I can't even think what you might be basing that on, whatsoever.
It's 'sinful', well, that's just... theist thinking. Sin is a theist concept, it doesn't exist outside the framework of your religion, so who cares.
Mental illness - Again, no. You don't need to be mentally ill to not believe in an invisible skywizard. I think you may be projecting here. Now, just to be clear - I don't think theists are mentally ill, but if we /were/ going to label one or the other ill, I think the side with the imaginary friend is the one most likely to be so.
I understand what your saying but being woke, or being enlightened, being rebellious and trying to bring about social change have been historically seen as cool or counter cultural.
I'd love to have a real conversation with you. I wasn't trying to be mean or insulting, I think atheist are really cool, and I use to be one, and I love you and God loves you to
That's fine, I guess.
It comes across from your post, that you're suggesting atheists are only atheists /because/ it's 'cool and edgy'. And that's simply not the case. You might want to clear that up to avoid further misunderstanding.
No not really, I know atheist tend to be intellectual and non conformist, but I think about culture and society and cool and uncool and counterculture vs mainstream stuff, and actual fun fact the original "cool" people in American society were nonconformist rebels and counter cultural hippies, so it actually does make sense my question wh you realy think about it
No, atheism and the acceptance that there is little to no evidence for an afterlife is not edgy or done for the sake of being “cool.” Most people who reach these positions are those who have rationally considered the evidence and found them to be insufficient. Also, you can be an atheist and have a belief in the afterlife; those are two separate beliefs.
None of the above.
It just is. I don’t think there’s an afterlife not because it’s cool or hip. I don’t think there’s an afterlife because I’m not convinced by the claims.
There’s no convincing you that Option B and D are false, since B is subjective and D is deeply rooted in belief. As for if it’s self destructive, a mental illness, or if it’s sad, not really for me personally. I don’t have death on my mind every waking moment. I’ll have to die eventually, it’s the way things are. I just want to enjoy the time I have.
It's just a belief. It's not "cool," or "not cool." You can think I'm edgy when I call myself an atheist that doesn't believe in an afterlife, but I'm just describing my beliefs. You can believe something else, and I won't judge you for that. In fact, it would be nice if I could bring myself to believe in an afterlife.
Ok. Mr. Cool Guy

No, it isn't.
That is literally nothing what so ever to do with this subject at all.
The situation is that there is absolutely no evidence to support any of the claims made by religion.
The default position, FOR ANYTHING, is non belief. I will restate and stress this point to you because it is highly unlikely in my experience that you will be capable of grasping this concept. This is not specific to religion, do not get confused by the word belief, this is about facts and how thinking works.
So atheism is simply the default state, the default position.
It is not a choice that is being made.
As people increasingly have better education and have access to the correct tools of thought to allow them to more accurately interpret reality they reject religious dogma, it is simply not acceptable because it is not valid.
No, it's none of the above. It's not cool, it's not edgy, it's not self-destructive, it's not weird, it's not sinful, it's not crazy, and it's not sad. It's just honest. Also irrelevant. What does it actually matter? Well, except for the anti-religion thing. That's just practical and logical. Religion does have a long track record of horrible violence and corruption. It's kind of the cause of most of the worst things in human history and the world would be objectively better if there were no religion.
the original "cool" people in American society were intelligent new age innovative new age poets and nonconformist rebels and counter cultural hippies, so it actually does make sense my question wh you realy think about it
Meh, it's usually just kids and adults trying to get back at their peers and religious parents.
There is no rational reason to be an atheist. You can only really be an agnostic, or theist living in denial.
I'm agnostic - I don't really care whether someone is atheist or religious as long as they're not extremely emotional about it - Especially they atheists they get really mad about it
Anti-religious atheists are just people with the minds of immature teenagers who think that in criticising and belittling those who believe in Christ they are being "edgy", "cool" and "trendy", when in fact they're just being complete fools. They're also desperate attention-seekers, so if we all just ignore the idiots they'll eventually get the message and just go away.
It’s just a belief bud. You’re reaching with this one.
In hollywood, anti christian religions and atheism is seen as cool, bud
Is this Hollywood?
no but they influence us and the countercultures of the past have influenced us
the poetry and jazz countercultures of the 1920s ,30s, and 40s, and the 1960s counterculture, and the 80s rock and roll counterculture, 90s rock and roll, also movies, literature and music influeced Atheism and non religious secular ideas
None of the above.
“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”
-- Stephen Roberts
The word your looking for is Goth.
Us goths find death edgy and cool. Atheists overall no.
I would say it's just more realistic than cool my reasons for not believing a god have nothing to do with popularity but rather morality
Cool? No.
It's just common sense.
well i know how you feel about atheism
I don't think anyone really cares anymore tbh🤷♀️
Thats boring I miss the edgy controversy surrounding atheism, the edgy and cool mysterious underground asthetic of it
