I come from a religous family but I am not sure if I want to be part of it?

Hi! I live with my parents who are very religious. Recently, I have been thinking that I kind of don't want to be part of it. I have many disagreements with my parents, basically about everything. I try to set some boundaries but still I am financially dependent on them so I am forced to do what my parents tell me. I am just tired of my mother telling me that I should be sorry for having sex with my boyfriend (before marriage), she is telling me that oral sex is a sin and I should never do it (she does not know I am doing it). I don't want to participate in the religious rithuals anymore and I am so tired of all the 'rules' I have to follow.

What should I do?

Live the life that you deserve also you shouldn't put your stuff on anonymous in my opinion bc you shouldn't be afraid to share your question bc it's a question and people are giving their opinions the reason why i say this is bc people are usually messed up and there's really no right or wrong answer and if someone judges you for asking a question then they are one of the dumbest people in my opinion. Please try not to get offended or angry at my opinion bc at the end of the day it's an opinion and also, I hope everyone has an amazing day.

You are an adult, and you should proceed the way you want. Had friends growing up that had parents that were like yours. While they were living at home, they had to follow "dads" rules regarding church attendance etc. Hard to give advice on this one.

I was in a similar situation back when I lived with my parents. Went to church every Sunday, wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend blablabla. I told them I didn't believe in religion when I was 17, told them that I didn'tsee a point in pretending that I did, since they had always taught me to be truthful and never to lie. I moved out at 18 and haven't participated in any religious events since. My relationship wogh my parents is fine considering the circumstances.

Move out and get your own place is about the only way. If you don't want any part of their religious beliefs then do your own thing, just like the rest of the world is. How is that working out for everyone?

Great points. Like you said, how’s it working out for the world. Obviously not well. It’s easy when younger to hate on traditions and religious upbringing. People think they know better, detach from it and their life turns into a disaster. Later when they are compelled to be humble and realize they don’t know better, they return to traditions and religion with some hard learned wisdom.

Well I see that you are old enough to be an independent adult. But as having to live with your parents and having parents with expectations it's really difficult to come to an agreement for all.

Perhaps you have to tell them that you are fed up with the rules and you are adult now but that you are open to accept the part of the rules which are crucial for them. Perhaps visiting once per month the worship with them. Or no sex at home and only oral sex with your boyfriend. Tell them that oral sex is the most altruist type of sex because the giver does not receive an orgasm and so the guy does not abuse you if he gives it to you. So it's a christian training for him. :-D
