You mean to say
"Have you read a translation of the Qur'an, and from which author?"
The reason being no one but those who can read old Arabic can read the actual Quran. Everyone only reads an opinion of the translation of the Quran.
Mainly as much of the Quran and it's expressions do not have equivalent words or expressions in other languages.
Hence it's easy to spot the bullshitter in the room. They start spouting they've "read the Quran," but do not know a lick of Arabic, let alone Quranic Arabic - which is a dialect of Arabic in of itself.
Also it's a lifetime study, as much of the Quran cannot be understood without it's adjoining hadith and commentaries. It's not a book for just about anyone.
I'm not sure who the author was but I read these passages in class, "For the sake of God, fight against those who fight against you, but do not attack them first. God
does not love aggressors.
Kill them wherever you find them. Drive them out of the lands from which they drove you.
Idolatry is more distressing than bloodshed. But do not fight them within the precincts of the
holy Mosque unless they attack you there. But if they attack you, put them to the sword. This is

I actually did. Not the whole Qur'an but partially. I just borrowed it so I am not sure about the author and can't look it up.

I have. I always figured that any book that millions of people over hundreds of years decided to use as the centerpiece of their morality is a book that I should probably read. As the author, well, that would be Mohammed, wouldn't it? Or the angel Gabriel, depending? I'm guessing you mean the translator; I'm afraid I don't know who that was. I'll see if I can find my copy.
I can translate and show you where, Jesus is God. Talk to Christians if you want know about God. And, that’s to Start.

I've read parts of it here and there, but I don't accept that Mohammed was anything but a huckster. There's nothing worthwhile in that book that Christ himself didn't say and said a lot better, and no, I don't want to talk to any Muslims about it either.
I've read excerpts. I never knew there was more than one author/versions. You're technically supposed to read it in Arabic

I've read passages translated into English, but same for The Bible because the orginal language of The Bible was Latin.
