What was this moon like object that I saw in the sky in 2020?

It was orange in color

I have no idea, but back in - I think - 2016, I'd just gotten home from work, in the summer, and it was about 9pm I think, and the sun had gone down but the sky was still mostly blue. Something caught my eye, and when I looked up my street, I could see an orange object in the sky, fairly low - like 1000 feet - and flying right down the centerline of my street. I could tell almost immediately that it was man-made, but I wasn't sure what it was.

Like a CGI movie special effect, this thing got closer and it was actually centered a block or two away, but that meant I got a great side view as it passed by, and it was clearly a metal object that was disintegrating from the heat of re-entry, and when I saw it, it had slowed down quite a bit so that it was maybe moving 300 MPH - not much faster than planes (that were normally MUCH higher) landing and taking off from SFO and OAK airports about 40 miles away. I was able to watch in come in, pass by, and fly on, for about 2 minutes total.

It turns out it was the first stage of a Chinese rocket.
