Why does evil still exist after Noah’s ark and the the great flood?

It was some of God's wrath and anger towards our evil ways which was apparently much worse around the time of Noah, from what I read it seems God also regretted creating us and he wiped out humanity using the flood because the evil was much worse back then than the evil you see today, the bible does speak how a certain civilization lusted over angels so that somewhat represent how evil humanity was thriving back then so God wiped the population using the flood, he did promise not to wipe out humanity with a flood again, the next time will be fire.

Because evil doesn't come from humans, or from any of the innocent animals that were killed.

Because it was a story in an old book, and probably some kind of excuse to retcon the world and make the New Testament.

The explanations I got was that in the old testament, the world was a very war-like place. Even God was treated as something to fear divine retribution from to keep people in line.

Then the New Testament comes along, the writing and tone is completely different, and it starts with the world being wiped clean so all the bad stuff goes away. It gets treated as a "merciful" act to cleanse the world and prevent humans from going out of control.

Why would such a holy perfect truthful book need a new version with new stories? Why would a God screw up multiple times? Are we doomed to continue getting culled by this unknown entity that we're supposed to love because he decides we're not what he wants?

What's the point of free will then?

God destroyed the whole of the world in the flood. Killed everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah. Destroyed Jericho, so the invaders could slaughter the me. Killed the firstborn children of Egypt. Allowed his only son, Jesus to die for mankind's sins. But history shows that mankind continued to sin, if anything in even greater numbers, and often in Jesus's name.

The apocalypse will see the forces of God arrayed against the Enemy. Be sure to be on the side that represents good.
