I was walking on the beach, and saw a man I knew sitting on a log. I walked up behind him, and called his name twice. I was only like 8 feet behind him. I knew he had to hear me. Then I noticed he had his hands together, with his eyes closed, and was saying what I assumed was a prayer. After about 20 seconds he turned around and greeted me, and acted like he normally would. I told him I'm sorry for interrupting your prayer. He said not to worry about it. It just struck me as odd because we worked together for 5 years back in the day, and he never struck me as being religious. Was it rude of him to ignore me, or was It rude of me to stand there and wait for him?
depends which religion and ages. first jew religion taught rude therefore "interrupt prayer to respond and even greet," therefore if jew disobeyed then by his own rule rude.
in contrast christian usualy dont interrupt so not expected and same if see muslim kneel or other meditation not expected interrupt so not rude.
still age is a factor. younger than age 5 asks, then interrupt to answer them, for practical. age 5 and up interrupt to say "wait i am praying" if a child is praying, i would say "i will let you pray later, but now i need your cooperation".

It’s all good. No rudeness. He heard you, he was just finishing his conversation
It's rude to interrupt someone while the person is praying.
What is his name? Just say one name not the whole? The answer might lie in his name.
Neither of you were rude.
No, it wasn't rude of either of you.
Nope. If I'm doing something, leave me alone
