I cannot love a dead person whom I have never met. For me, love involves a personal relationship. In addition, I do not have a religion, so I would leave this man to the Christians I suppose.

As much as I love Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, but not as much as I love Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice)

  @slatyb There's a lot of historical sources (not only Christian) that talk about Jesus. And Jesus (from a historical perspective) was a simple man. Not king or anything like this. So it would be weird if a regular man from Israel would be made up in so many sources.

  @Cubus Yes, but there is also physical evidence for many of them, or a number of records in agreement. What have we got for Jesus? The writings of Josephus 150 years later? The gospels are notably inconsistent. Of course they were written by someone, but as none were written during Jesus' supposed lifetime, it's hard to see how any of the incidents related in such detail can be taken as truth.

  Look at it from the other side. Jesus was a simple carpenter, not anyone important. Why would someone made him up? And Jesus is the best recorded Jew from the 1st century.
