Yes I do believe in the paranormal.

When I was a child, I stayed in a room that I believe was haunted.

    I would be pressed.

    Not just sleep paralysis.

    Pressed.

Something would be pressing me down onto my bed and I couldn’t breathe until I passed out.

And afterwards, I’d enter a nightmare, always.

This happened countless times in that house.

Also, once the windows and doors where closed, and a glass jar flew off my shelf by itself and shattered on the floor.

My parents also heard strange voices from one of the bathrooms of the house and even confronted my sister and I because they thought we were pulling pranks.

We had toys as well, that seems to disappear and reappear in odd places around the house.

After I moved out of that house, all of that stopped.

I believe in the existence of jinn. As for human ghosts, I’m very skeptical. It’s best to err on the side of caution and treat them as jinn who are assuming the form of humans — since the jinn are notorious for shapeshifting.

Besides, ghosts never quite behave like their human counterparts. Part of them are always feeling ‘off’ as if they aren’t quite themselves. But that makes a whole lot of sense, if they are actually jinn being imposters.

In 1 Samuel 28 of the bible, it shows that it’s possible for a spirit medium to contact the spirits of the deceased.

But as for the spirits of the deceased to roam the earth? That has been left to ambiguity. Maybe they do, maybe they don’t.

But the jinn DO roam the earth, and take human form quite often.

Thats actually sleep paralysis and thats what it feels like. There are all kinds of reasons a jar can come off a shelf that are more likely than "a jinn did it".

      Listen to yourself. Jesus Christ.

@OfDeath I’ve had sleep paralysis before many times after that, and it was very different than what happened in that house. I’ve even learned how to break sleep paralysis now with a certain breathing technique.

Exactly, you're very prone to sleep paralysis. We have our explanation. Much more likely than the paranormal.

@OfDeath It’s one thing to experience sleep paralysis, it’s another to not be able to breathe. Also, it doesn’t explain the breaking objects or the nightmares.

It may or may not have been a jinn, but it did seem paranormal. I’ve only had normal sleep paralysis after moving out of that house, but none of the other accompanying things. There was more as well affecting my other family members, but I won’t get into it.

My personal experiences aside, the jinn in general though, I believe they exist. On the island I’m staying at, the locals have many accounts of people appearing in the jungle that were never there. (e. g. following a supposed person down a path and ending up lost because there actually was no person and they were seeing things) The locals are wary of the spirits in some parts of their jungles.

Also, possessions have happened enough times around this place that most of the folk here don’t joke around about the jinn.

There have been middle school girls possessed after holding seances, being able to throw grown men around like rag-dolls.

The Qur’an also mentions the jinn quite a lot — describing them as other beings that exist and roam the earth alongside us.

I believe where the paranormal and science intersects most is when psychologists and psychologists have delved into the world of exorcisms.

Yes, an overwhelming majority of cases are just mental illness. But there are a small percentage of cases where things cannot be explained by modern science.

There have been scientists that have actually started to believe in the paranormal after trying to debunk possession.

I look of it as more of an undiscovered science.

I believe that given enough time and with the right collaboration, research, and funding, paranormal studies in regards to possession could actually become a more formalized field of study.

If the jinn exist, the study method may look like a crossover between anthropology and zoology, since they are sentient and intelligent beings.

Actually sleep paralysis inhibits voluntary muscle movement. That in conjunction with a feeling of pressure on the chest will cause you not to be able to take voluntary breaths if you try. If you really couldn't breathe, it is possible that you were suffering a bout of sleep apnea simultaneously with your sleep paralysis. known to occur. The nightmares are also explainable as a result of your brain's over production of gamma aminobutyric acid and glycine which is the reason for your sleep paralysis and what your brain produces during REM sleep to stop you from acting out your dreams. Nightmares also occur during this stage of sleep. Also possible that the whole thing was actually a nightmare and this was a false memory.

Falling object? Multiple real world explanations for this which don't involve the supernatural. Draghts, structural settling, expansion and contraction from heat, seismic activity, nearby construction, vermin, vibrations due to movement. All real things which are not supernatural.

Villages are often full of cultural myths which are inculcated into residents as well as the fact higher education levels are lower resulting in a more gullible populace. Superstition. Personal testimonies like that are useless.

The quran? Please. We're talking about a book known for its false claims and bizarre doctrines. Citing a book of known myth to prove the reality of a mythical being is self affirming circular reasoning. Not a valid argument.

The fact is jinns are a made up thing and I have provided you with a myriad of explanations which are not made up things and really happen.

So here is the $64000 question: is it more likely? 1. this was caused by a spooky ghost, demon or jinn for which no reliable evidence has ever been found?

Or 2. It was the result of one of the real world explanations provided or another not mentioned but which is also something definitely known to occur?

You're not seriously going to put your eggs in basket 1 are you?

If ever there was a basket case.

      This is reality bro.

Yup. In my last house at least twice a week I would wake up to lights on or the tv turned in my basement. Every night before I went to bed I made sure everything was off. It was only the basement that I experienced activity. In my current house I have watched cutlery move on my counter and seen them fall on the floor.

I don't think I've ever seen one but my ex-sister's house has them and my ex-fiance said she saw one in her house, once.
