I was fasting and praying. I've praying to the Lord about ho should a christian act like later I read about how Jezabel used make up in order to seduce men. Then I felt the need to NO longer used make. I grab trash bags and strated throwing all my costemicts. My oldest sister took them all she was like what are you crazy she took everything as I told her cosmetics does not please God. Before you judge me I was in the world before I became a christian. I was obsessed about bleaching my hair and back in my younger years I always wear hair extensions that were long all thw way to my wist. I remember the more I bleach my hairthe more blonde I wanted to be. I also throw away jeans , heels. I sister was looking throw it and took most of the stuff. But now I want topease the Lord.
I think it’s up to them if they want to or not. Let’s look at scripture.
“Your adornment must not be merely the external—braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel; but it should be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”
1 Peter 3:3-4 NASB2020
We know women spend a lot of money time and money on looking good. Yesterday in fact I read an article that stated it’s because society puts unrealistic standards on women in regards to beauty. I think that’s a bunch of crap. I think women are like that because it’s in there nature. Just looking at the above scripture it is clear women of the ancient world are no different.
Anyway. What Peter is saying here is he doesn’t want women to just focus on outward appearance. He wants wants them to focus on inward beauty. This does not at all mean it’s sin to wear makeup, paint your nails, get facials, go to the salon, wear clothes that make you look pretty etc. it’s just and admonishment about these things. It’s as if Peter is saying: Ladies, I know you take much concern in looking good, but I want to remind you that’s not the main focus. The main focus is to be beautiful on the inside. Be gentle, don’t be controlling, don’t be argumentative, don’t be excessively moody. When you do these things it radiates something special about you. Your beautiful heart can be seen by all and it brings glory to God.
So it’s not sin to be looking good. Just don’t let that be your only focus.
If Peter had something similar to say to men it would probably sound like this: “now fellas, don’t be overly concerned with pumping iron, don’t be overly concerned with how well you play football, or building that muscle car in your garage, but instead focus on self discipline, and being kind, and having virtue, for such qualities in the heart are respected by all and bring glory to God.”
I’m probably taking a bit of poetic license with that last part. The pint is it’s not sin to do those things, it’s just that there’s more to a woman than good looks and the focus should not be strictly outward beauty but inward beauty.

Makeup is fine, the Jezebel Scripture is most likely in a specific context since Jezebel was purposely rebelling against God.. What matters most is your relationship with God and if you feel convicted wearing that stuff then don't.. But if you feel fine outside of a few misplaced scriptures, and overzealous teaching then don't worry too much about it.. Modesty is the goal, and plenty of modest women wear makeup.. You can still look good as a woman and you won't go to hell for it.. As long as you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior..
Okay so coming from a Christian myself. You are basing throwing your makes up away because one women in the bible used it to seduce men. Are you that women? Its the same as if I go and use my PC to watch inappropriate things, are you going to throw away your PC now too?
If your reason for putting on makeup has nothing to do with seducing a man or harming someone then why can't to wear it? There are other women that use makeup to seduce men today but why do you have to pay the price of their sins? Do it for yourself
Should christian married women cover their hair? It's in the bible.
I think if you are modest in how you dress and your make up you are OK. I actually don't wear very much make up as I've good skin, I've experimented with various lipstick.

I think your heart is in the right place. You want to be pleasing to God. However if you look at Churches that put this sort of thing into practice. The no make up, let your hair grow out. Don't drink, Don't smoke etc. Those rules can be good, but they can also take over and before you know it, start to replace God in your life. In other words you start following the rules more than God. Those Churches end up hurting the congregation. I grew up in the Church, and I listen to an audio bible everyday. I also pray. I was water baptized as well. The Christian life is not an easy life. Somethings in the Bible are not easy to understand. So we get people interpreting things in different ways. As I look at scripture and observe how other believers go about things. It appears to me that the people who are the most consistent, also has wisdom, and that wisdom leads them to balance. When you were young you went crazy with outward appearance. Once you got convicted of this, you decided that you needed to distance yourself from your past. My suggestion is, keep reading the scriptures. Keep praying. Keep the car on the road and don't drive into a ditch. That is what happens to many, they drive into a ditch, and soon their faith is in a mess.
“I read about how Jezabel used make up in order to seduce men. Then I felt the need to NO longer used make.”
Why? The verse only implies that Jezebel, a married woman, should not have worn make-up with the purpose of seducing men. I doubt that’s why you were wearing make-up.
This is why I hate religion. You do what makes you feel happy and good about yourself, compelling you to do the right things for you and for others
you should not have to base your idea of what’s “right” by avoiding the example of some whore from thousands of years ago.
Clearly you're entitled to not wear makeup if that makes you feel better. That said there's no mention in the Bible that would suggest wearing cosmetics doesn't please God.
I think many Christians are confused as to what the Bible really says, but I encourage you to read it, go online to help understand it, and be careful not to become radicalized by it.
This isn't me bashing you for being Christian. Be the best Christian you can be by fully understanding what you believe in.
Have a great day.
It’s your decision. A lot of women of various congregations and religions wear makeup. I thought the Bible wants people to feel good about themselves but not so much that they’re vain about it and solely relying on their outward appearance.
Prostitutes/jezabels weren’t necessarily attractive so the makeup was important.
Good for you. I think you're doing the right thing. Not only is your own natural look a more beautiful representation of your true self as created by God, but most importantly you came to the conclusion that something you were doing wasn't pleasing God and took action to fix it.
Honestly, I wish I could be more like you. I struggle sometimes with knowing the right thing to do but instead I weasel out and do the wrong thing even if I know it's sinful or displeasing to God. You've been very inspirational, thank you.
personally i prefer if lady none. but also certainly no sin for her to add makeup and look pretty to feel pretty. just kuz nuns dress like nuns doesn't mean everyone must. the main issue is her intentions which only she knows not me or any other mortal.
Makeup itself isn't sinful. If you feel it's safer for you to give it up altogether because you have a history of using it in a sinful way like Jezebel did, then that's up to you to decide for yourself. I don't drink at all, although I don't believe drinking is a sin and in the Bible even Jesus drank wine. I dont drink because I have a family history and don't want to risk it. Be careful not to conflate personal choices to guard against sin with universal rules against sinful behavior.
I can tell you what Islam says on this, take it as different ptespective. So in islam, women can wear makeup just to please her husband and within close relatives (We say in front of the Mahrams, those men with whom marriage is not permissible and in front of the women). But you can't go out wearing outside, because your beauty is only for your husband. So if you go outside, no makeup, no skin showing, wearing modest clothing.
Makeup is for BAD GENETICS people who can’t naturally attract the opposite sex.
LMAO. 😆😆
"1. Corinthians 11
5] But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
[6] For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered".
I'm not Christian, but I am somewhat of an amateur theologian. I have also worked for one of the largest global cosmetic companies at one time so I though I would offer my view. From what I know of Christianity I do not see anything that would forbid the use of temporary adornments such as cosmetics or jewelry on a woman's body. I think it can be seen as a celebration of its divine beauty rather than an invitation for sinful behavior.
Personally I don't like make up very much, but it's still up to women to decide for themselves whether they recourse to it or not. This being said, don't you think there are more important issues for Christians to ponder about than women wearing make up?
St Paul's take on personal appearance is best paraphrased this way: "Don't dress like a prostitute"
That extends in modern day to include makeup.
Wear it or don't. It's your choice. Just don't look like a whore.
The same goes for men. It's a "waist band" not a "this hangs under my ass band" on your jeans/pants/shorts.
It's about being Holy and Set Apart for Christ.Who cares what the religion is. No woman should wear make up. End of the day it is your choice. If you want to then do so. Though finding a healthy relationship becomes harder depending on how much you wear
I’m just curious if man and woman were so intelligent, in the beginning, about sinful things why did it take so long for them prosper.
Like writing the Bible, why was the Bible written for that timeframe.
9000 plus years vrs 200 years. More has been accomplished in the past 200 years then in 9000 plus year.
How can God fairly judge a person born in this age the same way as a person born in like the 1700 and back?I love God, but I'm not leaving the house until I'm fully dressed (hair and makeup is part of that).
Why would you throw away jeans? You are going to do yard work in a dress? It's time to pull your head out of your ass and start acting like a normal person again, and not like some religious lunatic who takes the holy babble literally. A book written by idiot men and not by a god.
