You can be loved eternally, or you can have all knowledge, which would you pick?

An inspired Apostle Paul wrote this long ago about knowledge and wisdom.

Do you think that is true? Maybe it is just true for some people... Jesus said, not everyone was His, his follower. Maybe some people would prefer all knowledge.

1 Corinthians

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, b but do not have love, I gain nothing.

So if you knew everything, like who killed JFK, and why everything happened and how... but you wouldn't get love.

The other option is... you are loved eternally...

which would you take?

To me... it's an easy choice... once I had all knowledge, I'd be bored and want love!

Loved for eternity: By WHO? There are people I'm 100% sure I don't want to know I exist, much less be the object of love/obsession for their entire existence. There's a lot of risk that comes w/that. Plus, can you imagine all the attention people would expect from you/feel entitled to if you were the reason they existed? What if you're loved for eternity by the worst 10/most pathological people on the planet?

All Knowledge: Also no. There's things I'm MUCH happier not knowing. Smarter people suffer from greater rates of anxiety & depression & that's not a coincidence. All knowledge includes when & how you'll die, every terrible thing everyone has ever done/will do, the cause & result of every war/terrible event that has/ever will happen, etc. Just hearing a few stories about that kind of thing is enough to traumatize a person for YEARS. All knowledge also includes that there's NOTHING you can do about those things. Sure, you'll know about all the good things too, but knowledge of the good things won't save you from the PTSD/depression/psychological harm that comes w/the bad things (as is evidenced by all the people currently suffering from said conditions even whilst knowing about the good things).

don't over think it. It's simple question.
you will be loved, and you'll know it and feel it.
Or you'll have access to all knowledge. if you choose not to look at it, then that's your choice.

I answered the question as it was stated. The question wasn't asking about ACCESS to all knowledge. It specifically said "you can have all knowledge... So if you knew everything, like who killed JFK, and why everything happened and how" so that definitely means you take 100% of it (if that's the option you choose). There is no mention of optional/selective access.

If I have all knowledge, I will have all the knowledge I need to become a master manipulator. Then I can get whoever I want to love me eternally as well. Immoral? Maybe. A win-win scenario nonetheless? Absolutely.

These are exclusive, one or the other. knowledge is not love and your knowledge won't succeed (in this scnario) to get love. It's just knowledge, not ability to mplement

I'd still choose knowledge anyway. So much could be done if I had all knowledge. I think sacrificing love for the benefit of potentially the whole world is absolutely worth it.

I'm not surprised at the time of answering that the poll has most saying they'd rather have knowledge.

After all, that was the actual original sin. The belief that knowledge is what made God, God and that by having it we'd be gods ourselves.

yes, good point. When I think about it... I don't get why knowledge has that much allure. It seems so simple..
Seems similar occurred when Jesus was challenged to jump and if so, would have the whole world. Jesus dealt with the trick...

Neither. Loved for eternity gets boring after some time, especially if its more than one person loving you.
All knowledge means also having knowledge about the bad things. Knowing there's nothing to do to change it since the rest of the world doesn't know about it, or won;t do anything about it. There are some things I rather not know, especially all the bad stuff from the world and our lives.

Knowledge. Love is earned not given and if I was in any situation where others had to love me no matter what I would never be able to love myself.

Yes, that's the love of a pet. An equal can stop loving if I step out of line which makes it mean something if they dont.

I'm a bit lost. to be clear, sounds like you understand love as you are ewquating it to a pet. In essence, you consistently and unquestionably will be and feel loved and it's never failing, like a dog at your side by the fireplace.

as humans we "need" love more urgently than knowledge. no love caused problems and traumas.
the inverse is true too if someone is a "know it all" people despise them!
