Depends how you define baptism. I was baptized as a baby with the little droplets on the head. Some churches call it dedication (the parents family and friends promise to dedicate a good part of their lives trying to raise the baby with Christian values as they grow); others call it something else.
Some churches don't believe in this sprinkling type of baptism, even going to the point of believing you're going straight to hell if you weren't fully dunked in the water.
Others have no issue with it, except they would argue that babies have little say in the matter, and don't really understand much of it, so how can they be saved?
The belief being that they have to be old enough to make the choice on their own (or at least understand some of the implications). Some will let five year olds get dunked. Some say you have to be nine or ten. Some say you have to be at least twelve or thirteen (the accepted age generally that a teen would be able to have a certain level of legitimate maturity and understanding).
I don't recall being submerged... I don't think I was, but maybe I just forgot doing it at bible camp one year; if anything, it would have been at a camp; not at the church I went to). I believe we may have done the water on the head again during one of the communions, but can't recall (I was either nine-ish or thirteenish depending on the communion). And I think both have a "testimony" or promise to grow in faith that the kid has to do in front of the congregation.
It seems all Christian denominations ant to baptize you when you joint a different church. My parents did not baptize me at birth. Mom was methodist. Pop came from a Quaker Background which ultimately joined methodist due to the Quakers investigation of Grandpa's chosen mate who lived in England. No phone, No transatlantic cable. To get an answer to their inquest took three months. and lack of a bad report was not good enough. So grandpa became Methodist. It was not United Methodist at that time. I was Baptisted Presbyterian, then Mormon, then Methodist. The Presbyterian was a sprinkle, The Mormon was full emersion in a runoff stream after a rainstorm in Florida. I have been crossed with a wet finger. I have been to an Emmaus walk. And in 2013, a day after Easter, I died on the operating table and was pulseless and without respiration for about 45 seconds. I think they were about to throw in the towel. Two Zaps did not work. But I surprised them when my heart started beating again. What I experienced was confusing. I did not experience a condescending or angry presence. ( I was told to stop trying to perfect because I was not able to do that. Enjoy my life. Reread the book of Genesis. No One has got it right yet.) That was a true Baptist. When I woke up in a hospital bed I was visisted by the Chaplain. I told her of my experience and we were both in tears. My Opinion: judging by the variety of baptismal techniques I really don't think that was the thrust of being born again. It is symbolic. As my favorite pastor said when asked what the meaning of christianity was, He answered, "Just don't be a Prick"!
I was just thinking about this. Yes, but by a church that was created by King Henry in order to be able to divorce his wife and marry Anne Boleyn. Naturally this make me questions my keys to the pearly gates.
Sounds to me you have your head on straight. So much of what you hear is crowd control. So much of it is not scripturally based. Jesus clearly said we didn't need a human mediator to reach His Dad. Just end the call witth a thanks and charge the call to His name. Your Good !
You're right. It's the intention. ... At least maybe I can use that to pick the locks.
Nearly died yesterday. So nobody wants me yet. I so thought I was toast.
Yes I was raised catholic, I did my first communion too. Later found out one of my friends from high school did his first communion with me lol

Yes after birth at our local church they baptized me. I had to do my first communion as well as a kid. Even though I think it doesn't count as they bribed me with gifts to do it. Now since I was able to choose for myself, I'm not religious myself anymore and never went to church again since my tenth birthday. Luckilly because some people in my town are extremist-religious and tried to take me on church-vacationcamps as a kid sometimes.
Yep. When I was a little, bitty baby. My parents were good Catholics.
I went through a "first communion" ceremony and confirmation, too.
Yep, I was baptized as a baby which doesn't count and then by my own decision... around 2 years ago. I am a Christian.
I took pre-baptismal classes, but decided that I wasn't sure. That years late I was sure -- sure that Christianity and all religions were all make-believe.
I am. I still practice the Catholic Faith today.
I was forcefully baptized as baby but I could unbaptize myself with ancient blood ritual. Blood is always stronger than water.
Baby baptisms are stupid, so that is invalid in my life. It's all confusing, I did it again, but don't know if it was authentic either.
Oh and for everyone else... We're you baptized by a false church learning false doctrine? If you said no, then keep in mind that the only commandment that says to REMEMBER is the 4th. Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy, 6 days you shal work and the 7th day you shal rest.
Those who worship a Sunday βοΈday Sabbath will have the mark on the hand and forehead 666. Before the catholic church changed the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, Sunday sabbath didn't exist in Christianity for hundreds of years for the council of laodicia in the 4th century.
I was baptized as a kid when I joined the Baptist church, yes. I'm no longer a Baptist though.
Itβs a beautiful feeling when you dedicate your life to Christ. The future he can give us of any sun to be renewed with him, through you. God is peace and love.
I was baptized on my parent's first wedding anniversary.
Yep. About 27 years ago although I've been a Christian almost 40.
Yes and I'll still be amazed if and when it still manages to send me to Hell lol 😈😈😈😈 with a smiley smile devil 😈😋🤭
Nope and I'm glad I'm not initiated or indoctrinated by any cult run by sheep
