The Epicurean paradox is a way of controlling people. It’s a bunch of boxes that people with low IQs are unable to think outside of. The flow of thought lacks imagination. It operates under the perception that God is evil. That is because people that follow it, worship evil thus that is all they know which limits their conclusions. They can’t see outside the box. It’s a prison for their mind, meant to enslave them. For example, if God were to create a universe without evil, but still give you choices then you would only have morally good options, thus you would not be free with respect to morally bad options. If all you can do is good, then would you deserve honor for doing good? No, you would operate like an automaton and always behave as expected. Thus for you to be honorable, you must be granted a greater level of freedom and still follow the righteous path nonetheless. God doesn’t want you to be evil, he believes in the honor and integrity of his creation. It’s those that turn away from God that are testing our honor. God allows us to be tested by non-believers so that we can be vindicated. God believes in those who believe in God and thus God defends our honor and integrity. Being that God is the way and the truth and the life, God is consistently proving Satan wrong and burying him in death, for Satan doesn’t know the way and thus is lost. He lacks integrity and has no honor. He has fallen from the glory of God. He is a failure and is defeated.

If religion being about control is what you're arguing, then Epicurus' "paradox" cannot logically be a part of the discussion.
If God makes Himself known in such a way that it would be entirely impossible to deny He exists, then He would essentially force man to believe in Him, thereby violating free will. Not only that, but because He is a supernatural being, it follows that He has supernatural authority, meaning that all mankind would likewise be forced to choose to do good, also therefore violating free will.
That said, true religion concerns itself with man's relationship with God, which itself would require an initiative from God Himself, and would then have the authority to teach on His commands and doctrines (Christianity). Humans are still free to follow or reject said commands and doctrines though; the ability to do evil and commit sin doesn't go away just because of baptism, nor does the same evil become good. Otherwise, once again, free will is irrelevant.
Bottom line, you can't have it both ways. You can't slam religion as being about mind control and then blame religion (or God, for that matter) when bad things happen by the hand of those who used their same freedom of will to do evil.
No, Epicurus' "paradox" is just one massive table of false dichotomies.

The bible says the righteous do not suffer harm but it does not say the innocent do not suffer harm. Innocent people are good because they have never been exposed to evil. Righteous people have been exposed to both good and evil and still choose to be good. The bible says God protects the righteous. It does not say God protects the innocent.
Also I believe God lets good people die early for two reason - one is that their life on earth is painful but if they die, they go to heaven when there is no pain. Another is that God knows if they die young, they will go to heaven but God knows if he lets them die decades later, they will go to hell because life will corrupt them.
God cares deeply about our earthly happiness, but he cares much more about our heavenly happiness after death. Sometimes he sacrifices earthly happiness for heavenly happiness.
Not necessarily, but I believe it's being used more these days in many countries including the United States. I don't know since when Fox News became so Christian. It never made religious posts before. I think we should keep religion completely out of actual politics.

Religion is for people who fear the unknown, who fear what happens after death. It's also for people who need the fear of going to hell and desire of going to heaven as motivation to do the right thing. Why can't they just not be a piece of shit? I don't need religion for any of those reasons.
The thought of just turning to dirt is a big let down for most people. They think they need to aspire to or hope for something greater when they die. To me, the idea of just turning to dirt is a comforting one. It means I have nothing to worry about after I die. It also means your time of consciousness is limited and you shouldn't waste your life, because you're not going to live forever and be conscious in heaven. I wish I could say that I 100% believe that we just turn to dirt, but I've seen and heard a few ghosts. I'm not going to start speculating on all that because I didn't even see or hear anything like those bastards when I was on enough acid to fry 4 people.
Like anything bad people can and will leverage anything to be used for their control. That's why I chose to actually study the Bible for myself. What I learned is that it was never intended to be used for anything other than connecting us with GOD on an individual level.

Before there was police, there was religion and the church. So in a sense, yes, control. Nowadays, there are many forms of control. Which is perhaps why the state does not support family, marriage, and men nearly as much as it could.
I think religion can be bureaucratic and controlling but I think if you don't believe in something after this life you're going to be rudely awakened after death
