A question for my Christian peeps! Where in the Bible does it say smoking weed is bad 🤔?

Question

I haven’t smoked weed before, but I know people who have, as well as people who still do. 🍃
I don’t really open my mouth and say it is against God’s word when I truly don’t know where in the Bible it says it is.
I looked online and someone was like…

“It isn’t bad, but it shouldn’t take Christ’s place in your life. You shouldn’t smoke it because you want to feel at peace.”

Something like that…

But like, I need a clear answer. Is it against God’s word or is it not against God’s word? 🤔

Not a Christian but from knowledge of the bible it's specifically against the temptation to become drunk.
One can drink but to not get drunk but then that defeats the purpose of alcohol why even drink? And no doubt those who drank wine given by Jesus would of had a lot who got drunk don't think he stopped them at 1 drink. Everyone also has different limits.
Plus even a little bit of alcohol has a negative effect on your body, to say your body is meant to be treated as a temple.
It's for sure against addiction but if the purpose of alcohol is to get drunk then it's a odd promotion to give them wine.

It would be like in this case you can smoke weed but can't get high but here's some weed that wouldn't make much sense. So I think it's to vague to really know.
Been addicted is for sure a problem within the bible though.

Weed is also scientifically better for you than alcohol not that science plays a part if your going by what your faith say's, but just would be odd if alcohol allowed but weed ain't yet that one is proven to be worse for you.

In reality the bible never gives a clear answer therefore isn't one on it.
Outside of addiction which is clearly not wanted.

Not all things are stated verbatim in the Bible, because other principles are meant to lead us to wise conclusions ourselves. The Bible speaks on drunkeness and "clouding the mind" as bad and a sin, and that is also what weed does. It repetedly speaks on Christians needing to be of "sober mind" and being vigilant, and to comport themselves in a dignified manner "as befits children of the day", which is Biblical figurative speech for back when all loose living was conducted at night and people always behaved during the day.
Now, some atheists have said "but God created "everything for us to use therefore we are meant to smoke weed" but that phrase in 1 Timothy 6:17-21 does not say "He *created all things for us to use*" All translations have a variation of the phrase "He who provides/supplies richly of all things for us to enjoy" as in blessings God give us completely outside the context of what is created.

All things God made is good, and "weed" plants have been known for certain medicinal qualities in responsible usage and dosage. But as with many things man has corrupted and twisted it, instead using it recreationally to dull senses, escape reality, ensnare themselves in addiction etc.

The bible says drunkenness and gluttony clothes you in rags and weed is similar to alcohol in the sense that it is addictive, damages your body long term, and its similar to gluttony in the sense that it is an abuse of bodily senses that are designed for healthy pleasure and not indulgence.

The dopamine pathway in our brains was created so we could have healthy pleasures like eating a fruit salad or hugging a child, they were not created so we could abuse our mind and body with drugs.

Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirt that indwells you. You should not defile it. You have read that you should not be drunk with wine. So you should not be stoned with grass either. Just because God creates things, like plants, it does not mean it is good for you as there are a lot of poisonous plants out there. Just ask yourself, would you want Jesus, if he were there, to join you in smoking it? What do you think he would say to you? The Bible says you should also have a spirit of self-control. Since you are asking about it, I assume you know it is probably not a good thing. You either follow God, or man. It's your choice.

Peter 5:8-9 ESV - Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Being sober minded speaks against all drugs, when the mind is drugged it weakens it and makes it easier for the devil to influence.

it doesn’t necessarily. However, 1 Corinthians 6:12 (among others) addresses the bigger picture.

by the way, you’re quite wise to keep your mouth shut when you don’t know for sure. Lots of ignorant Christians open their mouths and spew nonsense that is not Biblical.

That person who responded and said that it depends on your motives……whether you like it or not, they’re more or less on the right track. If our peace and joy comes from anything other than Jesus, THEN we have a problem. If you read the Bible a few times, you will find that’s it’s often not as simple as yes/no.

The fact that smoking weed is evil should be a no brainer to most... Its the drunkenness part that should be obvious to you. One doesn't need alcohol to be drunk.

God created EVERYTHING, for man to use.
God created everything with a divine plan for it all, meaning what you do is predetermined by said plan as God's will can't be contested. So if you got high, God intended for it. If you get high for a sense of peace, then he meant it.

Everyone knows the incense is spiked with pot. The bible is just a list of suggestions to try. Tell your masses not to do something and they are gonna go right out and do it. While the Bible doesn't say anything about recreational use of marijuana, it gives warning after warning about the dangers of drunkenness. Ephesians 5:18 cautions that drunkenness leads to overindulging, and Proverbs 23:20 advises against surrounding oneself with those who are drunk.

And again Proverbs 23:21 ESV "For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags"

I'd like to believe the person in chronic pain who gets relief from smoking weed, rather than taking Vicodin, isn't committing some Cosmic Christian faux pas. Or the person it relaxes who uses it rather than alcohol.

It wasn't me who said something akin to it's more important about what comes out of a person (in terms of works and goodness) than what goes IN to a person. Hmm, who said that?

The Bible instructs Christians to obey the law of the land, as long as it doesn't contradict God's law, in Romans 13:1-7. The verse states that God established all governing authorities, and that those who rebel against them are rebelling against God. It also says that those who refuse to obey the law will face punishment, unless the law is morally wrong in God's eyes.

I think the Bible refers to it as a "spirit of drunkenness'". Where any substance that gets you drunk or "high" should be avoided.
