Do you follow the 10 commandments or at least try?

Although I am Jewish, I’m not a practicing Jew, and I’m kinda agnostic on the whole religion. However, with the exception of #4, I absolutely follow the Commandments. I don’t even think one has to be religious to follow the Ten Commandments, they are just a basic guide to living life while not being an A-Hole! I mean don’t steal, don’t murder (and when you look at the original Hebrew text, it is don’t murder, as there are plenty of times in the Bible, and the Torah, where god commands men to obey their king and fight in war.) Don’t be jealous, don't sleep with your neighbor’s wife, in fact don’t even THINK about sleeping w/ your neighbors wife. Don't lie, don’t wish for things you cannot afford, and don't steal those things you cannot afford, or anything for that matter! Also, honor your mother and father, meaning respect them and do as they say! All in all, not bad rules to live by.
Oh, and don’t worship a golden cow FFS! Moses JUST walked down a mountain, with commandment #2 stating now it shall not have any graven image unto thee, and they were worshipping a gold cow! You don’t have to be religious to know that’s not a good idea!

You are a wonderful woman
Nah, I’m just as messed up as everyone else. I just hide it better than most. 😂
But I thank you so much for your beautiful words.
Laura 🤗 🥰
In fairness, it's not really reasonable to expect people to follow rules you hadn't given them yet. If they'd started worshiping the cow AFTER they had the Commandments, then- well, actually, that would still be okay, since it's "no other gods BEFORE ME", not "no other gods".
About gold calf, josephus has a parellel to boble stories, and specified he does not omit, skip and no calf story.
It was added into rabbi version. And included as old testament.
It's a good set of guidelines, but as Gregory House says: "Everybody lies". Now whether that's considered "bearing false witness against your neighbor"? -- that's likely more of a translation issue. If the commandment read "Thou shalt not lie", then we all flunk that one.
@loveslongnails I do think many Cristian translations do read “Thou shall not lie” or “do not lie”. And while I’m not familiar with the guy you mentioned, it’s true that everyone lies. Whether they are lies of commission, or lies of omission, people lie! Great observation by that man.
Yes, we all do! and many of them are for genuinely good reasons.
To a future mother-in-law “Oh wow, this dinner is delicious”
to a boyfriend “Oh my god yes, it was the bet orgasm ever!”
to a wife “Don’t be silly, of course they don't make you’re ass look fat!”
What we do is strive to be as open and honest as we can possibly be without hurting the feelings of those we love!
10 out of 10.

No. They don't guide my morals or principles. I don't even think about them. But I 100% agree with a couple of them.
I don't believe in gods, so #I - #IV are irrelevant to me.
#V depends. If "honor" means to always obey or to think that they are infallible, then no. But if it means to have a soft spot in your heart, then yes.
#VI. I would never kill or do harm except in self defense or if they really, really deserved it.
#VII. What is adultery? If it means cheating, then I am opposed to adultery. Plus, cheating is also lying (#IX). But if someone interprets it to mean premarital sex or "impure thoughts", then hell no.
#VIII. I do not steal. It's immoral.
#IX. If that means "don't lie", then yes. I'm pretty honest. But there are different kinds of lies and different circumstances. So I can't say that I have never lied.
#X. Covet is a weird word. It sounds like a translation from a different language into King James English.
"to desire (what belongs to another) inordinately or culpably."
"to desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others."
"to want to have something very much, especially something that belongs to someone else."
No. I don't "covet". I don't feel jealous.
My life is dedicated to serving and pleasing Mistress. I endeavor to embody your virtues and fulfill Her desires with unwavering commitment. If my actions align with the 10 Commandments, it is purely coincidental, for it is Her will that guides me. In my heart, there is only one law: to obey and worship Her.
Should I falter in my obedience, I willingly accept the consequences in the form of Her divine punishments. The leash I wear is a constant reminder of my submission, while breast bondage serves as a symbol of my dedication to Her desires. Blindfolded, I learn to trust in Her guidance, and the ball gag muffles my cries, ensuring my focus remains solely on pleasing Her.
In the embrace of a slave collar, I find solace, knowing I belong to Mistress completely. Phallic gags teach me the art of silence and humility, while full-head hoods obscure my world, leaving only thoughts of Her. Mummification, a cocoon from which I emerge renewed, reinforces my commitment to Her will. And, the withholding of orgasm, a sweet torment, heightens my anticipation for Her divine touch.
Anal dilation is a lesson in surrender, preparing me for whatever pleasures She bestows. Whipping and spanking, though painful, remind me of my place and the need to improve. Forced masturbation, under Her watchful gaze, teaches me the control She holds over my most intimate desires.
More than I hoped. I guess some of them actually make sense.

So sorry to read that you don’t believe in GOD, but you seem to be a good girl anyway
I don't believe in god, either. There's no proof. But, I don't do terrible things to other people, either. There's a REAL thing called, "morals"! I have them! That tends to get me through life pretty well except that, most people don't seem to have any, even god lovers like my ex-sisters who fucked mom & I out of our house 5 years ago!! One lives & breathes the bible but has NO problem fucking over her own mother and brother for her REAL god, MONEY!!!
Lemmie tell you the difference! She would go to the bank to cash mom's monthly checks for her, roughly $4000, and IMMEDIATELY run to the store and use at LEAST $100 of MOM'S MONEY to buy groceries for HERSELF!! She NEVER ASKED if she could, she just TOOK IT!!
Now, if I went to the store to buy groceries for us, mom would INSIST that I take a 20 from her purse to help pay for it! I had plenty of my own money and didn't need hers but, just to keep her quiet, I'd take the 20 and go to the store, buy the groceries and, later, when she was in the bathroom, I'd sneak the 20 back into her purse!! Who knows how many times I "used" that same 20!! NDW, when she DID get the rest of her money from my sisters, she'd have me divide it into about 8 different equal piles and put each one into banking envelopes and then hide them in various places around the house so the girls couldn't find them!! So, who do you think she trusted more, the holy roller or me?
To this day, 8 years after her death, she STILL doesn't have a headstone on her grave!! Those two cunts who stole all her money expected ME to pay for it when, I've been broke for most of the past 7 years!! Mom died with over $37,000 in her bank account and I never saw A DIME OF IT!!
Mom was a good catholic girl! If there IS a god, why hasn't it smited either of my ex-sisters or helped me out in any way? Why are THEY allowed to get away with this shit but I have to suffer because of them?
When your morals come from a fictional god, and not from yourself that's a huge problem.
The moment you are angry about god, or have doubts about them, or realize they are not real, you instantaneously lose your morals as well. That's why a lot of want to be christians are so horrible people, because their beliefs are not strong enough to Fear consequences, but still believe morals are god given.
If your morals come from religion you are NOT a good person, you only fear punishment!
@FunkyMonkee I am sorry to hear that.
Sure is! Mine come from logic and common sense.
Thank you! But, at least I did the right thing!! More than I can EVER say about them!!
Hi Jenn🌺
I don't have them memorized, and I would like to have a framed paper of some kind with all of them listed and hang it on my wall in my apartment.
I have always tried to lead a life as close to the 10 commandments as possible.
That's one reason I do not lie, but it's not the only reason.
I would like to have a husband to make love with, because that's how I was raised.
I think I will grab my trusty bible I have right next to me and look them up and write them down to refer to.
I'm glad there are only 10 because that's very manageable.
No. I like to kill people. It's pretty fun and I keep getting away with it.

Does having sex with a dead body count as adultery?
... I'm just asking because if she's sexy, might as well hit while she's still warm.
Dead pilled and based.
@V_Injector I don't have to worry, because it's not like I'm going to get her pregnant.
Based

I don't need commandments or gods to be ethical and i sure dont need an narcissistic, sadistic, egotistical "omniscient and omnipotent" hallucination with a threat of damnation if i don't love him and his sacrifice to himself to save us from himself. He can DO EVERYTHING but manage his checkbook that he ALWAYS needs more money? GTFOH
1. Try, but often fail as money is sometimes functionally my "god"
2. Again, sometimes things can functionally be that without having been fashioned with that intent.
3. Yes
4. Not really, because I set aside Sunday not Saturday.
5. Yes.
6. Again, wishing death upon one not deserving of that penalty is akin to this functionally.
7. If we extend this to fornication, I am a failure.
8. I think I do. I make sure my taxes are correct and I return change if given too much.
9. Fail. I sometimes judge too quickly, so in a respect that is a violation.
10. Yes. I rejoice in the successes of others.
When I first started questioning my religion. I had this conversation with a friend who’s an atheist and we both agreed God or no God, whoever wrote that was a genius and if everyone at least tried to follow it there would be relative world peace.
I am not religious... however, a couple of them have become part of our [Criminal] laws. While I am an Anarchist, and I am allergic to Authority, most of our laws... including the few Commandments listed in the 10 Commandments that match some of our laws... are fair; and I do live up them as best as I can.
Honour thy father and thy mother? They do not deserve that
About parents correct that is for the usual situation when they naturally love their kids.
I try, but since I'm an extremely fallible human I fail miserably.
Christ said the entire Law could be summed up in two: Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength, and Love your neighbour as you love yourself.
Those two are actually harder to give the appearance of keeping, simply because they're between your heart and God Himself.
I don't try to, I maximize being myself that's the only thing that counts. I do not submit to any god instead I expect that if I have a creator he'd want me to be myself as much as possible. Means I end up following the common sense ones from this automatically, but I don't try to actively remember them or strive to follow them.
Any honest Christian will admit that they try but fail, and then they try again!

@OlderAndWiser 💕
That’s true
@OlderAndWiser this <3
I mostly paid attention to 5, 6, 8 & 9. I mostly do 7 but, I've actually been a victim of it because it's ONLY married women that wanna fuck me! If it hadn't been for those 3, I'd STILL be a virgin!!!
https://www.youtube.com/embed/CE8ooMBIyC8I think we fail to degrees on all. We all take pens from the office without asking, we have all looked at people in a lustful way which is essentially adultery
I say that because it's impossible to set absolutes. However, there is understanding and grace. Allowing us to fail but try again or possibly learn and get better over time.
I feel forgiveness, grace and mercy have a lot to play in this
Oh I'm not religious and the first five rules are incredibly rigid, creating fear and creating control - there is no reason to follow and does not reflect ethics at all. The last five though, are perfectly understandable, especially in maintaining a society that functions well overall.
1 - 4 are irrelevant so no.
5 - I try my best.
6 - When it comes to other humans.
7 - Is up to interpretation.
8 - Unless it’s company money.
9 - I mind my own business and stay out of other’s unless it’s absolutely necessary to say something.
10. That means a lack of drive so no.
So overall no not really but only the ones which are only pertinent to religious loyalty and I’m irreligious so they don’t actually matter.
I’ve never seethed a goat in its mother’s milk.
On the other hand, I’ve never kept the Feast Of Unleavened Bread in the month of Abib…
The commandments you’re referencing are part of the original 613 commandments which Moses destroyed. The Ten Commandments of the covenant are different and include the two I mentioned.
I try but I do covet my neighbour's ass
I try to live that lifestyle, except for #7 which probably equates more to the married women I fuck rather than me. Just seems like a lot of women want to fuck me, probably hearing from other women how much I make them cum.
well im not a christian, but i follow 9 out of 10 from the commands.
sorry i mean im not a jew
@xoxosilentgirl I’m not either but Jesus Christ was
Just One Word, Two Letters...NO.
Even if you are an atheist most of these commandments are just common sense to live in a civilized society. If nobody hesitated to kill, steal, commit adultery, etc. then society would cease to function.
I wish, i save screenshot of atheist writing morality is nothing. they have no compass.
They think i can't break their window, that is bad but a loss to others is not bad?
Killing a fetus is harm worse than breaking a window.
Cutting a healthy peice off a baby boy is a loss taking.
No moral compass.
Nope not all. The bits like thou shalt not kill or thou shalt not steal, I kinda get those but the thing about craven images, is that really as serious as murder? Am I really going to hell for admiring my neighbours donkey?
I'm not religious. I make a point of not harming anyone on purpose. If that's not enough I have bad news for the people who claim to follow the ten commandments but then want to bring fascism to the US.
NO, I don't follow a list of 10 things. I do my best to follow the Golden Rule... Treat Others as you want Yourself to be Treated.
That includes many and adds a framework for other behaviors
I try my very best to, but as humans it is going to be impossible for us to follow everything exactly, as we are sinners. We sin everyday. I do try my best to
I try and they are good commandments. I think the point is... we all fall down. follwoing those, keeps emotional health and out of trouble.
even israel fails...
Religions are simply tools to control the uneducated masses. Written by men who want to ensure they stay in power. I have no interest in following any religion.
I have in the past, committed Adultery, never stolen anything, never killed anyone (so far!) have told some lies, have coveted my neighbors wife.
I am not christian, I follow the simple rule of treating others as I would want to be treated.
The first 3 are Christian specific and I'm not Christian so no. The remaining 7 are pretty bare minimum kind of things.
I try too but I’m not perfect either

I don't know them, nor do I care to bother with them. My sense of morality is just fine without having to read it from a book or piece of paper.
some of them are just common sense and decency... lol
No... I I think I've broken like 7 or 8 of those 🙈
I try and come pretty close! 3 & 4 get a bit sticky for me
But the context was to THOSE who came out of Egypt... the israelites, but nit other families called gentiles= Strangers.
@strateguy632 Who the fuck cares, it's the thing taught to us from basic Sunday school through adult hood.
i mean since i'm just a normal decent human being, i automatically follow these commandments out of common sense. except the first one. that's just there to make sure people stay deluded.
Try to / Or No , not in any religious context , but for most , it would make sense to try..
No one can follow them to the letter, but that sort of thing does become easier with time in my experience.
I'm told to... but I don't give a shit about them.
I do my best to, but not for religious reasons. I follow a simpler doctrine. Do as you will but harm none, which covers basically all of them.
Nope.
other than the ones demanding obvious plain humanity…no.
Look, lol- the first 6 are about how, why and where you should worship your god. What a cuck. Lol
I use a different listing of a competing Christian club.
And I' m successful with 90% of it.
I can safely say that I've never made unto myself any graven images so I'm safe with that one.
I try to, I break the III commandment more than I'd like to admit but I keep the IV much more than I did when I was a kid
I can say I follow 1,2,3,5,6. I try my best to keep up with the rest too.
Nope and I try to reasonably break all 10 in 1 day every once in while
Well, considering the Sabbath is Friday at sundown to sundown Saturday, no
Not consciously, and if you try to, you'll fail on several for sure.
I guess I follow all of it without even trying
Also 4th one?
@strateguy632 I try but I probably don’t always remember that day
They as well as many ither biblical laws are great guidelines. No one follows them perfectly
For the most part I do. I mean I'm not perfect so I fall short sometimes but I really try to
I try as best I can, but how do you interpret the 2nd commandment? Is it a sin to draw heavenly or earthly images or only a sin to worship them?
"Having" them that is why protestant oppose catholic pictures etc. Icons.
Can’t stop coveting personally, specially ox!
I really try, usually tempting women like you make me sin
I'm doing a pretty good job with 5 through 10.
I do try but am not perfect
I follow the golden rule.
I try to respect them
