Churches pass around a collection plate and donations are voluntary even for holiday services which could prevent regular parishioners from attending due to occupancy limits.
Is there a better "third way" other than donations or memberships?
There's a reason I want nothing to do with organized religion. It all comes down to the money eventually. The fact that they get tax breaks that a gofundme for some cancer kid wouldn't get is sort of shitty. They can do memberships or donations... I don't give a fuck about them.
Voluntary Donations, not paid membership.
Next thing you know you cancel it, you show up and the Pastor tells you to scram! Lmao.

It isn’t written anywhere in the New Testament that tithing should be mandated by the church for Christians. In fact Jesus explicitly told his disciples to not accept money for their faith healing miracles.
Anyway tithing is mandated by God (not by man) and only he knows if someone is truly giving generously vs. who isn’t. That is how most mainstream Christian churches operate. People tithe out of spiritual honor to God not by man made law.
It is also written in the Old Testament that worshipers are supposed to tithe 10% of their “first fruits to the Levite priests”. I am not accustomed to how what mainstream orthodox Jewish synagogues charge their attendees. You gave an example above but I am not sure if that’s mainstream for all Jewish worship or not. But I do know that tithing is part of the Jewish custom and law.
Wow, its a super specific topic doc, I don't know what to think or how to react. oops
I'm a Catholic, it's voluntary. That's how it sound be in my opinion
Having it be a membership like that German government does would be a disaster.
Money should never be the reason why someone doesn't go to church.
But it is
Money equals acceptance in most all religions and churches
I say voluntary.
