Why do people dislike Muslims?

Most people don't know what a Muslim even is, let alone what one looks like.

In their insular, and small minds, a "Muslim" is a "brown" or Arab guy wearing a keffiyeh, and doesn't speak English.

When in fact the largest population of Muslims these days is in the Balkans and Philippines, and most speak multiple languages as well as English.

I would say they dislike them either because they view them as rivals to their political agenda, rivals to their religious agenda, or because they focused on the selected proportion of Muslims they found objectionable and not the ones they found virtues and kind, either due to angry population referencing or due to a lack of familiarity with the diversity of personalities in any given population that counter chosen sentiments they hold regarding Muslims.

Murdering people who insult your religion is not a good way to make friends. Granted, the percentage of Muslims who are terrorists is probably pretty similar to the percentage of Americans who are professional baseball players, but when all the media shows you is terrorism and mob lynchings of men suspected of being gay...

In response to such a murder in the Netherlands, in 2010, a cartoonist whose name I've long since forgotten declared May 20th as "Everybody draw Mohammed" Day. Needless to say, it kicked up quite a stir; she eventually declared it was all a joke, but she couldn't contain what she'd let loose. Several other sites sprang up to carry the idea forward, and put up some pretty impressive artwork. Also some depictions of the guy sodomizing camels, but a lot less of that than you'd think; it really was more about free expression and extending a warm middle finger to those who'd rule by fear than extending it to Islam itself.

Three of the other participants I talked to about it actually WERE Muslims (though probably not very strict ones), who told me they thought condemning violence was more important than iconoclasm.

There're a billion and a half Muslims out there; the overwhelming majority are just everyday people. But if we stopped hating each other, we might turn our attention to the people in power, and they can't have that.

Muslims will claim that the Quran is: A Gift From God to an Illiterate Man. A book that makes tenuous promises to young men about getting 72 virgins in the afterlife. It's silly to think that God's desire for our afterlife is to have a harem, if we can achieve that here on earth. But it's strong motivation for young warriors full of testosterone. You ever read the Quran? It's pretty bad stuff man... Pedophilia, rape, slavery, racism, murder, extortion, idolatry, deception, injustice etc. The Quran itself tells you it is a lie and that it's not from God if you actually read it. Muhammad was demon processed and oppressed in a cave. He even wrote Satanic verses in the Quran which were later stripped. Islam is from the pit of hell. So, while there are people who claim to be Muslims out of family and community obligation who don't really understand their religion, anyone who has actually studied Islam and still believes in it is a evil fuck. I think there are many people that got indoctrinated into that Satanic cult and they go through the motions out of obligation without understanding what they are truly involved with. One can only hope they study their own religion more thoroughly so that they can realize they are being tricked and mislead and escape Islam.

Due to the ultra small minority of the people causing trouble in the world. When I lived in South Africa all the religions were mixed. I had a few Muslim colleagues, I have interacted with the normal people who follow Islam. I had no problems with them.
