I don't think they are threatened at all, they just don't agree with the religious ones and at times I think they actually make a good point. For example, think of your loved ones maybe a wife or a girlfriend. Is there anything they could do to make you want to see them suffer? If not, then good you're more moral than a god who would burn you for eternity for not praising him for who he is. That's a being who is narcissistic.

It's why I'm agnostic myself. I believe in a higher power or at least can concede that one might exist, but I don't think it's the god of the Bible. That's written by men to subjugate the masses.

If religious people think you deserve to be tortured in hell, why then do they spend so much time and energy trying to save you? Wouldn't you agree that if they believed you deserved it, they would just let you go along your way and face what is coming to you? After all you deserve it right? So if they are trying to intervene and prevent you from being tortured in hell, clearly they don't think you deserve it and have a calling to lend a hand to help you.
