Which of these olden day trick or treat phrases would awaken your generosity?

Here are three little phrases that were not so long ago used here by children going door on Halloween. Back then they got bread and cheese and the little buggers were greatful of it. I think they're much nicer than some kid wearing a bin bag screaming "trick or treat" then fire bombing your house like they do these days

So which of these phrases would melt your cold heart and have you reaching into the pantry to reward the little darlings?

"Please may I have a little of the food of the messenger of the dead?"

"Bread and cheese, bread and cheese, If I get some, I'll jump, If I don't, I won't."

"Share, share! All Soul's Day, A share to my father for mending the shoes, A share to my mother for mending stockings, A share to the children who stay at home."

This messenger of the dead would not awaken my generosity, my confusion instead, why am I being called the messenger of the dead here? 🤨

The jumping if bread and cheese reference is... Okay, this symbol has some power over me, damn. I can break on that one, solely with this meaning. The third one is not necessary then. I stand defeated already.

Good question bad options, I mean I'd love to give out something like bread and cheese that would be fun, but times change, kids aren't starving if there trick or treating.
