Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a moment in history when Mary appeared to St Juan Diego in 1531 with a message of comfort, dignity, and hope for the people of Mexico. Her miraculous image on the tilma has become a symbol of God’s closeness to the poor.

For Catholics in Ireland, her story resonates deeply — especially when we think of Our Lady of Knock.:

🌹 Guadalupe appeared during hardship and division, offering reassurance and showing that every person is beloved by God.

🌟 Knock appeared in 1879 during a time of poverty, emigration, and uncertainty in Ireland, silently pointing people toward hope, prayer, and the presence of Christ in suffering.

Both apparitions remind us that:

Mary comes as a mother to her children, meeting them in their own place and time.

God often speaks through signs of peace, not noise or spectacle.

Faith can be renewed in moments of struggle.

The Church is truly universal — from Mexico to Mayo,

God’s grace is at work.

Science has had a difficult time explaining the tilma. To that end, the lack of a what you'd consider a scientific explanation doesn't automatically mean something is a act of divine intervention. You can't go from " Modern day science can't explain "X", therefore, it's an act of God".

You can't say that, unless of course, you're a religion. Any religion. Because that's what religions do all the time.

What you mistakenly believe about the word "faith" is that pertains only to the EXISTENCE of gods or a God. "Faith" simply means 'belief without evidence".

Khan indeed believed he was inspired by the divine will of a God. He had faith in this.
Communists are essentially atheists. They have "faith" that there is not a God.
Chairman Mao was responsible for the deaths of around 50 million of his own people due to his "faith" that religion was evil.

All of those "faiths" wiped out massive numbers of humanity. History will confirm that it doesn't really matter if you have faith in God and go to war to destroy non-believers, or you have that there IS no God and go to war to destroy those who believe in one. It doesn't matter now, does it?

Not believing in God means you have no faith or are faithless. In other words faith in nothing.

Then you don't know all the definitions of faith. As you usually do, you only allow for or interpret a thing as it pertains to YOUR faith, or belief, in YOUR God. More than HALF of the world's believers already believe in God, even in ONE God, but YOU would call them faithless because they don't believe in YOUR God. Similarly, there are people who have absolute faith that there is NO God, a concept unacceptable to you.

Which is it? Because though both germanics and celts had festivals around the same time (as does every culture from the start of civilisation in Europe) they celebrated different things. Ie germanics celebrate on the winter solstice their honoured dead while celts celebrate the rebirth of the sun.

We honor both actually. Our beliefs are a wide melting pot of many cultures and traditions. It's like we pick all the positives we like and go from there. And we don't really make any human sacrifices despite what some of the locals might gossip about.
