I don't think any religion is inherently peaceful or violent.

There are followers of different religions that use their faith as a justification for violence, though. Even religions that supposedly preach peace have violent followers which kill in the name of their religion.

I'm an atheist, and even I don't blame the religion. People are evil, and I blame them.
